I dont really need to say to much as it has already been said....If your going to mod it, wait a few months so you get used to driving it. Chances are this car is going to be that fastest thing you'll drive for a long time. Even the way it sits. Take car of her, yellow evos are hard to come by. Respect it and it will respect you. These first mods are good for 30-35whp, do a k&n drop in filter, an evo 9 bov is the best one. It dosent have any driveability problems as the aftermarket ones do. Do a boost controller set to 22psi, your probally going to want an aftermarket guage. Finally, but more important than any other mod you'll ever do is a flash. this is where ALL of the power is made raising the boost wont do a thing without this (PS: Go to Iveytune). And for God's sake BE CAREFUL!

these car are not rockets but they can be, a few mods here and there make a big difference then a civic.
you had a dsm when you were young that put you into check?, hmm and you think a evo is something a 16 year old can handle.
I agree, 400hp car...Not a good idea.
and yes those things do still happen

forget about moding a car.. if you have money to waste, why not replace the stock parts like brakes, pads, and rotors and get slotted/drilled rotors, and performance pads.. maybe even change che clutch and flywheel, put in the oil pan, put a nice DVD playet and change the rims, add new all-season tires... plenty of money to be invested..
