Changing Oil... What Type.. Brand Matter?
I can supply it to you vanisher... off the top of my head, I believe it is EAO-46 for the Mits.
BUT..... the above post by "coal" as far as mileage interval, is for Unmodified engines under normal driving conditions. The simple addition of an aftermarket air filter can change that or with driving.
I have a guy with an RX 8 that uses it Street and Strip though, where with using oil analysis, has a baseline oil change interval of 17,500.
I am working up a couple prices for you right now and will PM you with them.

The problem I am hearing about the Eneos Oil, on this Forum and others, is that you start to get some lifter rattle about 2500 miles or so...
Don't know about you, but for over $10.00 per qt for Eneos Oil, I'd much rather pay $7.25 per qt for a superior oil that will last many times that, and use a Superior filter as well.

i dont really know that i agree with letting the oil run longer than the 3k miles it should, that would be why the oil changes are recommended every 3k miles...
if you let them go longer, that hott *** turbo makes them dirtier and dirtier, plus normal wear and tear of the engine... although 15k mile oil changes may save you a few bucks, why dont you see how long that motor lasts compared to every 3k changes and see which bucks are lower.
i personally use Mobil 1, fully synt. extended perf.... and i change every 3k miles... that is where you all should be in my opinion. if not using that oil, then at least changing it every 3k miles or less...
you bought an evo to take care of it, so you should do so and keep it cleanly lubed up ALL the time...
that is just my two cents...

Did you know that 3months/3000 miles was "invented" by Jiffy Lube (Pennzoil) and it is estimated that if people would extend their oil changes 1000 miles, it would cost them over $26 million per month ? Did you know that AMSOIL, is not only known as "The Kings of Comparison", but also the First company to promote extended drain Intervals and has been doing so since 1973. Proven, not in laboratories like most others, but in actual field test using oil analysis. That stated, there are few oils, synthetic or otherwise, that can SAFELY extend oil drains, and None as far as AMSOIL

Well, my work van, which has been Very Abused, has over 345,000 miles on it and most of the oil changes have been done at 35,000 miles using AMSOIL TSO, now SSO. As far as Dirt and Heat effecting the oil... Oil has four major functions; Cool, Clean, Seal and Lubricate.... Synthetic oil performs all of those functions in a superior fashion... AMSOIL doesn't even get into it's additive package until over 265 Degrees and the TSO/SSO is Highly recommended for Turbo engines. Of course, some of how performs is dependent on filtration. There are 4 filters I would try to use, In order from the best down, AMSOIL EA Series, WIX (NAPA Gold), Mobil 1, Purolator. Another place that makes a difference is the TBN of the oil, which is the ability of the oil to neutralize acidity, and the SSO is well over a 13 TBN where a high quality petroleum may be a 5 or 6.

IF you are using the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 15,000, you are probably doing an overkill on the oil change as it is a PAO oil, the other Mobil 1 oils are Hydro Cracked and if you are a hard driver, you are probably doing well at 3000
you bought an evo to take care of it, so you should do so and keep it cleanly lubed up ALL the time...Absolutely... Run the BEST oil and filters that you can buy and keep away from any type of wetted gauze air filters (K&N type)
that is just my two cents...

Royal Purple is a terrible oi... Rgardless though.... A Dealer can't void your warranty for anything......
They will try to tell you they can...
Brand of oil has nothing to do with warranty, and niether do filters.
As far as "It comes in them from the factory" Welcome to the world of "Lowest Bidder" same with the filters....
