How you got your Evo
I went to a local dealership that a friend of mine reffered me to, because he had just finished buying a used Evo from there. First of all I was only 18 at the time(Nov. 06) I first drove in just to go look and show my girlfriend how they look. Then after the sales rep showed me all the there inventory, he showed me the sticker price of the car ($32,xxx) and then showed me how much below invoice they would sell it to me for. I got so amazed on the price and I immediately went home to grab my dad to atleast sit down and work financing #s to see if I can afford it, he said ok and off my girlfriend and I went back to the dealer with my dad this time. We sit down there for like hours and I still could not afford the payment. Then the General Sales Manager of the dealer came out to talk to me and we stayed talking for a couple of hours about random stuff and cars, he was a very funny and cool guy to talk to. He then left tried to work his magic and came back and the payment did not change much so I still could not afford it. He then asked why, I said "because I am the one paying for the car my dad is only the person signing and I only have a part time job teaching Chess at elementary schools". He than told me " with your attitude, knowledge of cars, and the fact that you can speak two languages I can gaurantee you that you will do very good selling cars for me here!". So the GM of the store basically offered me a job selling cars, he told me more about how the business works and then I made an impulse move and accepted the job and buy the car! Very risky move for my age and it being my first full time job and getting in a $30K+ dept! Not a very smart move there on my side !... But things worked out ok, my first full month I sold a total of 24 cars and made more money than I have ever seen at age 18 !! I then continued to work there for about 2 1/2 years and managed to stay on the top 3 sales reps of dealership most of the time. After the the 2 1/2 of hard work and dealing with a lot of BS I now have enough money saved up to payoff my Evo and still be left with another few thousand $ in the bank. I just recently left the dealership, because I just could not take the sales hours they made me do there, I'm talking about 13- 14 hours @ 6 days a week !! So here is my story how I got my Evo IX and the only regret I have is time spent that I lost with my loved ones (girlfriend & family) from the hours I would work... other than that it was a great experience and learned A LOT about business and other random stuff from customers.
I got my evo after I totaled my 97 eclipse gsx. Was really depressed until I realized I could use the insurance check for a downpayment on an evo
got $7400 back for my eclipse. Kept 2000 for some mods and used the rest for a down payment. Kind of a good thing it all happened i guess cause the wifey told me we were having a son a few months after everything happened, and nothing fits in the back seat of an eclipse... especially a car seat lol. The evo fits a recaro one

I've had a lot of import cars... a bunch of Civics/CRXs, a few Integras, a Taurus SHO (hey, the motor's Yamaha = "import"
), a built '91 Toyota MR2, an E36 M3, just to mention a few.
Somewhere along the line, I got the idea that the '02 Corvette Z06 is one of the best bang-for-the-buck sports cars, if you want something pretty damn fast right out of the box (which it is, especially for less than $25k these days). I was tired of modding and dumping money into cars. Buying the Z06 was supposed to put an end to all that.
So I bought a C5 Z06. Drove it back from Texas in November of '07; got a pretty decent deal on a low-mileage electron-blue Z06 on eBay:

I liked it, especially the instant power in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. The memory mirrors and seats were pretty cool. It even got almost the same gas mileage as my '97 M3!
But it wasn't fast enough (of course). And it was going to be big bucks to make it faster... cams, forced induction, etc.
The other lame thing is that I couldn't get traction in 1st and 2nd gear anytime the temps were under about 45 degrees. Remember, November. Colorado. On one hand, it's kinda fun to spin tires... but not if you end up going nowhere fast at all. Then it's just annoying.
And then one cold night, I was on a four-lane highway... and a graphite gray Evo came up behind me. No idea what it had done to it, but it was lowered, and probably at least had some bolt-ons. We eyeballed each other through our tinted windows for a mile or so, then he rolled into it hard from a light we'd both stopped at. I gave chase.
I was pretty much right with him, until halfway thru 3rd gear... when the rear end of the Z06 started dancing around because of the cold pavement. As much as I didn't want to, I had to back off (not quite stupid enough to risk going off the road to try to win a street race).
The Evo disappeared into the night.
Three months later, the Z06 was sold, and I had my own graphite gray Evo 9:

To be honest though, the Evo gets way worse mileage than the Vette, girls always assumed the Vette was worth way more than it actually was, and if I had to do a roadtrip anywhere, I'd definitely want the Vette, not an 350whp modded econobox that's so loud inside I can barely use my cell phone... and doesn't even have cruise control...

i am 21, i own my 2005 srt-4 outright, with too many mods. decided to move on. my mom lent me the money for my evo (paid in full). i am paying my mom back with the mods i sell off of the neon, as well as the money i get from selling the car itself. i am paying my mom back plus interest for the evo.
I bought my friend's 06 Evo MR. He sold it to me because he has a wrist problem so it's hard for him to shift. Bought it $34k cash and before he sold the Evo MR to me, he bought a Evo X. Im 24 by the way turning 25 in two months.
I'm 40 something...and I traded an 04 mach 1 and a 07 WRX Limited in for a 2008 Apex silver Evo X GSR with SSS, sport interior pkg, mud flaps, 3M clear bra, front brake coolers, and wheel locks.

Got 0% financing for 5 yrs through Mitsubishi...for a total of $16,224. My payments are $270.42 a month.
