If I were you I'd learn how to drive a stick first.......if you want a GSR. MR you should be cool with especially if you live in the city. Did you look at the Ralliarts? You might be able to pull off getting a Ralliart for 22.....
I agree. Learning how to drive stick would be your best bet if you do decide to try and get the GSR. I would also really look into gettting a ralliart. Search around and you will find that good power is being made with the ralliart.
I understand where ur coming from, but you already know ur gonna get bashed and flamed for even suggesting this idea, I've seen numerous threads like this one where comments def. got out of hand,
since ur looking for advice, I'll try to help you as much as I can, first off its good you got experience in dealing with some sort of combustion motor, then again like you said it doesn't compare to a car, also I would rec. buying a beater to learn how to drive stick because a clutch job on an evo would burn a hole in ur wallet if you need to replace it too many times from learning how to drive, not to mention the insurance would be crazy high since you have almost little to no driving experience on paper and you would be looked at like a hazard to other drivers due to you being really young etc.
so I say save ur money and wait a while before buying a car with that type of performance, from my personal experience I've seen numerous vettes, vipers, and other high pro cars get totaled because of inexperience and ignorance from young drivers both male and female,
since ur young and just started to drive you feel invincible, I felt the same way so to sum up I say, buy a beater get use to driving stick, then get the evo theres plenty of time
oh yea and welcome to the forums

Ok so I guess this sorta cancels out the manual option since I don't really know how to drive it, and I honestly don't want a "beater" car, I know I may sound like a brat blah blah blah but I don't feel "invincible" either, I know my limits, I am mature, and I am patient. I honestly don't think it would be that much of a challenge. I looked at the ralliart and it seems cool and all, but I still have hopes for a Evo X..
Is it possible to lease mitsus? i haven't seen one person on here talk about it yet...
and thx for no flames yet guys, this isn't as bad as the BMW forums, that was a fail hahaha -.-

As far as I know you cannot lease a mitsu. I kinda understand why you would want the evo x, but at the same time vendors on this forum have dipped the ralliart down into the low 12's already with very minimal things changed. For me personally other then the manual trans, I would take the ralliart. It's much cheaper and can be made to have some very decent power. I would personally suggest researching in to both cars. This forum has a lot of very usefull information that will help making the decision easier. Also another thing you will want to take into consideration will be your car insurance, you are 17 and just started driving. So no matter which insurance company you decide to go with your rates will be very high.
I know some of you are ripping out your eyes seeing me say that and im young and ignorant, don't know the value of money....
but i honestly do lol...
I will look into the raliart more, I might try to get that and just do small upgrades from what I have read so far... brakes, the ecu flash or w/e...
I took the liberty of doing some searching for you since you are farely new to the forum. This might help to sway your decision a bit. I'd suggest reading up on both of these threads. They really show the potential of the Ralliart so far.

Okay seriously, first and foremost, learn how to drive a manual. An Evo isn't really the car you want to learn how to drive a manual on. You'll especially be kicking yourself in the butt when you realize how quickly you burnt out your clutch from just learning how to drive on it and how much your about to be raped because Evo clutches and flywheels are by no means cheap.
Trust me I know, I just replaced my clutch and flywheel on my Evo.
Second of all, I think its cool you want an Evo as your first official car and what not, but get past the hype of an Evo and do some serious research about them. I can't stress that enough! The more knowledge you are armed with the better. Also keep in mind its an Evo, a performance car, and most used ones are usually abused in some sort of way. So there again do your research first.
Third I wouldn't be so cocky about not being worried about insurance. Insurance on an Evo is by no means cheap, and with your age thats definitely going to effect your rate. I'm 24 yrs old and my insurance on my 05 Evo VIII GSR is literally raping me. I hate how much I pay, I won't lie, but I did my research first and got an estimate from my insurance before I even bought my Evo. Crunched some numbers and made sure with payments, insurance, and maintenance and extra money for if something went wrong; I'd still be able to afford an Evo.
I'm not going to sit here and bash or flame you on this thread. I know what its like to want what you want and be so determined you won't stop at anything to get it. I'm also not saying your too young to have an Evo, but let me tell you first handle, if you've never been in a performance car of this sort.. your bond to get cocky and stupid. Do you really want to chance that with a 30 thousand dollar Evo?
Personally, I agree with some of the other response. Get a beater car for now thats a manual. Learn how to drive a manual and drive one well. Save money where you can so you can afford your Evo X a little while from now. There still very new and the price tag on the is by no means cheap. Don't give up on your dream to own an Evo X, just postpone it a little while longer... you won't regret it.
And if nothing else consider this.. with the way the economy is and how retarded some people drive, can you truly afford for Evo if say you got into an accident or got a ticket? Both will end up effecting your insurance rate. Or what if you lost your job, do you really want to see your Evo got repo if you can't find another job to start making payments again? I know a buddy on another forum, had a black Lancer, lost his job and his Lancer went to repo. Now he's broken hearted and seriously depressed.
Be smart, do your research and don't jump the gun on anything.
