should i purchase this evo..
should i purchase this evo..
Okay so my car search continues, i almost bought a nissan titan the other day for 9,000. then my friend calls me to let me know they have an evo up for sale here at a honda dealership so i rusehd to the dealership to check it out. It is a red 2003 evo, and it only has 40k miles!! they are asking 13,800 for it with tax title and license, and they will throw in some new tires, new brakes, and fix the ac which currently doesnt work. It seems like im having some trouble with financing, they want me to get a cosigner or trade my OZ in
which ive spent lots of money and and i have an emotional bond to. is this a good deal? the paint is very bad and faded, and peeling all over the roof and the wing, and a little on the pillars. this is the only problem besides the ac which they are going to fix, the interior is VERY clean and the engine is completely stock minus a boost controller. Here are some pics, lmk what you guys think because im going to the dealership today

Sounds like you have another 5k in repairs! Really? Buy something that doesn't need to wrok and save yourself the headache--there are so many issues with your position. pass on this.
5000 for a paint job? everything else is going to be repaired like the ac and new tires, and brakes. its at a dealership, its lithia and they do that 200 point inspection or whatever.
hahahah yea im going to see if i can workout a tradein for my oz
. she will be dearly missed but not forgotten. the milage is ridiculous, ill repaint it wicked white. Any more advice guys?

its a very good deal
but consider they are honda dealership
they might not be experience in dealing with evo
check for drivetrain damage?
transfer case whine etc etc
all the known associated problem with stocker
clutch slipping???
most important is to test drive the car and have a feel in it

I would also be careful given the fact that it has a MBC. Who knows what else was done to the evo before the guy traded it in. Definately take it for a test drive though and listen for any "wierd noises" and see how well the clutch and trans works. Thats my 2 cents.

I think I'm gonna do it, they're giving me 3k for the lancer leaving me at 10,677 with ttl, 280 or less a month:-) . Yay or nay. I love my lancer but the Evo is way better
I took it to my mechanic and he said its a great car, being that my lancer has no ac, no ps, and the sunroof doesn't work, I'm stepping into a huge upgrade. So 12900 is too much is what your saying ? For an 03 with 40k miles
