VETTE VS EVO or MR

To let you guys know I traded my 2002 Z06 Vette for a 2003 Evo. There is no compairison. The evo's build quality is by far better than my 2002 Vette was . Yes stock for stock the Vette is faster, But the vette cost me 52,000 plus tax tag etc. In the year and a half my AC temp sensor went twice, door locks broke, pass side window motor burned up. and the 6speed tranny was not smooth shifting at all. HYM MY payments were over 800 a month with 5,000 down. My insurance was 200 a month and I'm 30. and the lifetime gas mileage on the car when i traded it in was 17 MPG. that was with 5,400 miles on it. And when I traded it in I lost 8,000. So please don't compair a vette and an EVO together there is no compairison. NOT EVEN PRICE WISE. Oh let me go on 2 door VS 4 door,no trunk in vette, wanna talk about tires lol big $$$. Not to mention the general maintenance on the vette,AWD VS RWD. I just hate all of this fighting. Please choose the car you want and buy it, AND MOST OF ALL BE HAPPY WITH YOUR DECISION.

You run a turbo-charged 11 sec Honda with nothing but the stock gauges? Interesting.

Bummer for potential MR buyers. Good for the current EVO owners. With a higher MSRP on '05's (not to mention HID's not standard) and the MR priced significantly more. It should make '03 and '04's more coveted.

i guess you had a bad experience.
Here's a guy who didn't:
http://supraforums.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=227801
To those who can't view it, the thread is titled:
"why buy an economy car when you can buy... a vette" 30.8mpg on his c5. "...i've seen 40 if I drive highway a lot"

-"My Z06 averages around 23-25 in stop and go with some freeway driving mixed in. But yeah, jump on the freeway for a longer trip and keep your foot out of it, and the mpg skyrockets. Sixth is geared ridiculously.
Then again, I used a half tank of gas while tuning on the dyno, and I didnt make all that many runs."

- "I've heard 30+ on VERY modded Z06s. Doesn't shock me at all. What a great car"

to help with the guys that daily their evos:

just a quick question, If the MR is so overpriced, why is it only $580 more than a sun and sound GSR?

GSR w/ S,S, & L = $33,619
MR = $34,199

and the last '05 STi I went in and drove (last wednesday) had a MSRP of ~$34,000. I don't recall the exact figure but I do remember it was over $34k.
YMMV,
Greg

Man, even foglights are not standard on the GSR anymore? It would seem with the pricing some people will definitely go over to Subaru for that 05 STi. Either way, everyone should go for what they want or can get. The MR would be awesome to have, but I'll console myself driving my 04 GSR and hopefully I won't feel too bad.

btw, my old Subie dealer is sold my friend his 05 STi for invoice and others under MSRP. Maybe some people should drop by Detroit if they want some STi's.

but now, it's a nearly 40k evo vs. a 45k vette.. ( you coudl get a z06 now for 38k)
i'm sorry, but it's not a hard decision for me..

my 2 cents.
wtf are you talking about?? the MR is $34,800 including destination. after TT&L, you're looking at around $37K out the door...not even close to $40K. and don't give me that tired hater crap about "limited production" and "huge dealer markups". i have a deal IN WRITING for less than MSRP. many others on this board have similar deals for MSRP or less.

i DEFY you to buy a new Z06, much less a C6, for $37K OTD. EDIT: actually, i take it back...i don't really give a crap what you do.

Derek and Greg K seem to be the only two who understand how the '05's are priced. For all of the whiners who didn't look close enough and jumped to the wrong conclusion here are the correct 2005 prices:

The RS model INCLUDES a $570 RS package in the $27,629 base price NOT in addition to.

The same for the MR model, the $34,199 price includes the $800 MR option package, NOT in addition to.

Only one option is available and that is on the Evo VIII. The $3120 Sun and Sound Plus Leather Package:315-Watt Mitsubishi/Infinity (R) AM/FM/CD Audio System with 7 Speakers inlcuding subwoofer, Power Glass Sunroof, Leather Seating Surfaces, HID Headlights, Fog Lights added to the $30,499 base.

So yes, HID headlamps are now only available with the Sun, Sound plus Leather Package (unless you buy the MR), but you could always purchase then from the parts department if you want to add them to your RS or Evo VIII.

The only item not listed is D&D which should be around $595, which I think is what was charged on the previous years.

Dude, that's not really a stretch for you since you already own an '04 STi, but good luck finding an STi at base price without options. Seriously the MR and STi are closer in price than you think, just buy the one you prefer instead of making excuses about price.

Bottom line is any Evo, RS, GSR or MR, is a hell of a value, as is the STi. Nothing else can touch the performance/dollar ratio these cars offer. The MR is an absolute bargain at $35 grand and there is no denying that. I'll bet everyone of them will sell at that price, and if they do then Mitsu made a good decision on pricing it. It seems all of the people complaining were not going to buy one to begin with, and if you wanted one at, say, $33,000 then why would $35,000 seem so over priced? Bottom line is it is a superior car to the GSR or STi, any magazine test will prove that, so if you want the top dog then get it, and if you can't get it(no money, stuck in a lease, or whatever) then don't make up bogus complaints as if they're charging a $3,700 premium for guages that you don't like. I can't wait for mine to come in, and I'll be happy to pay cost of admission. It's still an incredible bang for the buck.

So the price diff is 580$, by goin with the MR over the SSL GSR .
I lose: sunroof/leather/315-Watt stereo
I gain: 6 speed, wheels, susp, mr accesory package, light roof, exclusive color

Thats awesome in my book
