FYI, MachV sells the stock MR BBS rims for $800/ea. I think there's more to the $4500 price increase than just the raw material upgrades. It's more marketing and product value planning. The MR is the top of the line Evolution model. Who would want to buy a plain GSR when an MR can be had for a few grand more. Mitsu placed the MR out far away enough to not greatly affect GSR sales. GSR people should be happy with the MR price tag. I think it holds a better value to us GSR owners.

Dude... the horsepower to weight ratio is better..it is said they took off about 300 pounds... 5 more hp/13 torque..better suspension... acd.. all carbon fiber spoiler/ vortex generator said to create 70% more down force..Nicee bbs rims.. instead of those crappy ones evo comes with... plus a 6th gear...

i raced a regular evo when i was stock and killed it....i raced a Subaru Sti and killed it.. A bmw m5.. Svt mustang cobra..Porsche carrera 4s...Bmw m3... Chevrolet corvette...Audi Rs6...v8 Audi s4..(and i was stock).you name it .. i owned it... thats why i paid 4500 more.. to be better /fast/ stronger/ better handlen.. how could u go wrong...


+ i got smoked color.. Evos dont offer that.

05 EVO MR is heavier than 05 EVO....all 05 EVO have the SAME hp/tq... etc etc.

ey dude...u think just because the new evos have the 5 hp and 13 more torque itll be heads up... man.... ignorance... its called horsepower to weight ratio.. and evo mr is alot lighter,,, for it to run 0-60 in 4.3 and 1/4 mile in 12.9 ... a reg evo runs 4.7 and 13.3... 5 hp doesnt take off .4 secs.... get real... and my car owns a reg evo - every aspect... ACD BABY...... just because new evos have same hp i bettttt u mr is faster.. and better in every aspect... or they would sell an mr... wait and see buddy,,

 

the only thing i can say about the MR is that having a 6 speed would be nice due to crisper gear ratios, more power efficient when you need it.

But i do have to agree that for the price id rather just get a GSR and mod it slightly and make it unique. Plus mark up's on these things are nuts, and due to it being a "rare" ride you can bet the dealerships arent going to be easing up anytime soon.

and im suprised that no one here has mensioned that for 4500 dollars you get:

- BBS rims
- Blisten shocks
- 6 Speed
- Specail color
and......---> VORTEX GENERATORS<------ (OH YEAH BABY, LET THE CASH FLY!)

Mitsubishi just raised the price $500 so the difference is now $5000. You get alot of stuff for the money but $5000 is $5000. Factor in tax and interest on top of that and it made it clear for me that the GS-R was the way to go.

 

Actually the 4500bucks over a regular Evo isn't bad. Consider the following:
Each BBS rim is about 900 dollars
The Bilsteins are 2000 four all four.
You spending almost 4 grand on the rims alone. So 900x4=3600+2000=5600total.
And I didn't even touch the aluminum roof and ACD and 6spd. Add all this on top of a regular Evo and theoretically it should be over 40,000!!

MR's are faster than Evo's, but not by much. MR 12.9 and Evo in 13.0. A tenth of a second quicker, not much. Besides, you can put 4500 or less into an Evo, and run quicker than an MR.

Here's the data I pull straight from Mitsu web site.

MR = 3285 lbs
Regular 05 EVO w/o sunroof = 3263 lbs

So regular 05 EVO is 22 lbs lighter than MR.

All 05 EVOs comes with same hp, same turbo and ACD.

Now, you can go kill your salesperson or yourself... but I suggest both.

 

personally, i think a dodge neon sxt is the best value for the dollar.. you could buy 3 of them for the price of the MR, and if you used the super mopar fusion kit, you could have Neonocon..decepticon's worst nightmare..
