looking thru some old post the fast nissan that day was 1:33.1, so you're either bull****ting or you must have one of the fastest ser's on the planet. still slower than a stock evo MR tho.
I have the quickest lap record on Streets of Willow in an SE-R. My best running Kumho tires was 1:31.95. My best running Hoosiers is 1:30.93.

I was not at that shootout. I could not make it due to work schedule.

I also hold the quickest lap time for Big Willow in an NA SE-R with Toyo RA1s at 1:36.255 and with Hossiers at 1:36.099

I also hold the quickest lap time in an NA SE-R at ButtonWillow running CW with the Bus Stop and the Sweeper on Toyos pulling a 2:06.495 and CW with the Bus Stop and Star Mazda @ 2:12.314 (Hoosiers) and 2:13.442 (Toyos)

I bet that I can beat YOUR time in a stock EVO MR with my ****box SE-R. But You MUST drive the car and not someone else. I want to compete against you; my ****box with my lousy driving against your superior MR with your impressive driving skills. What say you?

There were plenty of other tuners who had hired drivers handle their car. I don't see what the big deal is.

As much as you trump up the 05 RS, you probably haven't even driven one. (reading motor trend in your bathroom doesn't count).

while you're throwing out challenges, how about i throw out my own. how about you meet me at Sac raceway and race your racecar against mine?

But I wont sit here and bull**** you about how i am a good driver. But I have worked on cars that's been in the WC and 24 hours of thunder hill, so you beating your chest is really just laughable. I apolgize if i've hurt your pride.

If you were a good driver, then you would have driven YOUR own car at the EVO tuner shootout. You are NOT a good driver, so you decided to out-source the driving to someone better than you. It took Frank Lin to pull the 1:29.xx out of the EVO MR. Did you drive the car at all at the shootout? If so, then please tell us your time.

You did not drive your own car, you do not have a racing license, and you have not raced in any amateur racing series, yet you are perfectly content telling people that they do not know how to drive if they tell you that too much shifting slows you down and risks the possibility of a mis-shift. I think that is extremely arrogant on your part.

You are worng. I have driven an RS @ ButtonWillow Raceway. It was an 04 RS, but it had a Mueller racing suspension. I was so impressed, that I will be getting an 05 RS at the end of 05.

I want to do time trials against your superior STOCK MR with YOU driving. You are the one that said that you will be faster than I am in my crappy car. So put up or shut up. If you want to do time trials with YOU driving the MR and I driving my crappy Sentra, then choose your road course here in SoCal; ButtonWillow, Big Willow or Streets. Pick any one of them. If you want to drag race @ Sac speedway, then I am not into that. I have never drag raced in my life nor do I intend to do it any time soon.

no need for ad hominem attacks...chill out everybody

Saiyan,

In fact you did say you could beat my bike which is a GSXR-1000. it's on page 5 of this thread. and you also said there are only 600 mr's coming to america, but the first shipment to the US is 800 according to the mitsubishi website. They didn't say there weren't going to be any other shipments. again chill man, all of us love our evo's...i got an '05 gsr b/c i thought it wasn't worth the money for an MR woulda been 6700 more and that's with out sun sound and leather which i have. now that i'm autox'ing, i think it would have been worth it for the stock class because you can't modify a GSR and stay in the stock class...oh well i still love my EVO and I have fun with it.

One problem that i might have encountered in autox though with an mr is having to shift into 3rd during small straights...most cars run the whole track in second with no shifts...the STI has the same problem in autox and the wrx's usually have at least a second per lap faster times because of the longer gears.

you make a lot of assertions and claims about the MR, and you racing other vehicles...i KNOW you don't KILL any of those vehicles. they might not even be racing. Most people in several of those vehicles won't push their vehicles like you may, due to the mature nature most owners of those vehicles have. I've seen many of those cars and most of them won't race or give it WOT. The only vehicle i can say i "killed" was a 350z. I'm not a hater but 20 more horses isn't gonna let you "kill" those cars.

I was reading the latest MT and they tested the C6 Vette against the the new Porsche 911 S. They drove both cars at Big Willow. They seem to agree with ME that the Porsche track times suffered because they had to do an EXTRA shift into 5th on the back straight and then downshift into 4th before going into turn 9. They were using GPS and telemetry to get the exact speeds/times for both cars. Here is a direct quote:

"One more difference: I needed to get rid of two gears in the Porsche (fifth/fourth) and only one in the Corvette at triple-digit speeds and near 1g loads.
KS: The 911's second downshift into the last turn is DEVASTATING to its lap times; without it, the Porsche would finish about 50 feet closer to the Corvette."

Even MT agrees with me, extra shifts slow your lap times. I am not pulling this out of my ***. This has been my experience racing/hotlapping and reading about racing since I entered the sport back in 2000.

I had the same problem driving the STI on Streets of Willow. I had to shift into 5th gear on the front straights and then shift from fifth all the way to 2nd before entering the tight right hander after turn one. It was VERY annoying and it slows you down. I drove an 04 RS at Buttonwillow and never once had to shift into 5th gear. The RS/GSR maxes its fourth at 113 mph while the STI does the same at 99 mph. The 05 MR is a bit better than the STI at 105 mph, but not as good as the RS/GSR. One to the early mods for my RS is to extend redline to 7500 rpm. This will allow me to stay longer in 4th gear and avoid shifts into 5th on a track like Big Willow.

I'm pretty much done with this converstation as it is obvious, you are have a conversation with yourself. Quote me where I said *I* would be faster than you in the MR.

I don't think the MR is the best car on the planet, I don't think the MR is necessarily better than the RS. I like all EVOs.

But lets talk about your sentra... Your race car whom you've had countless hours experience driving is slower than the stock MR whom the driver had driven one time. That is fact. And that is all I've stated concerning that matter. I've seem to hurt your pride, and now you feel like you need to challenge me personally. Too bad tough luck loser. I have more important things to do, than accept the challenge of simpletons on the internet.

My role is not a driver. Why don't you go down pitlane of Lemans and challenge the engineers to a race in your sentra vs. their prototype car. They would laugh at you just like I'm laughing now. HAhahHHahaH.

I came with the intention of advertising my website, and to compare the performance of a basically stock MR vs EVO's in various tunes. As far as I'm concerned, mission accomplished.

FYI, Frank told me that he never even shifted into 5th gear on the straight. Your main point is irrelevant. Next time, don't make assumptions on a car you've never driven. It makes you look like a fool.

Then why are you posting if your doen with this converstion? It is really sad that you do not drive your own car in competition and you come here bragging about its accomplishments. You have yet to tell us if you drove the MR at all at Streets during the shootout and if you did what was your time?
I don't think the MR is the best car on the planet, I don't think the MR is necessarily better than the RS. I like all EVOs.
Not on the track it isn't. The RS is better on the track than the MR. On tracks like ButtonWillow and WSIR that have longer straights than Streets you will need to shift more and will be slower as the MT people found with the Porsche (see my post above).
But lets talk about your sentra... Your race car whom you've had countless hours experience driving is slower than the stock MR whom the driver had driven one time.
It is also a fact that my car cost way less than the MR to build. These cars can be had for 5K. Add 15K to turn it into a race car and you have a 20K car that is only a fraction of a second slower than your MR. Considering that the MR is a 35K car, I still have 15K in my pocket that I can do with as I please.
That is fact. And that is all I've stated concerning that matter. I've seem to hurt your pride, and now you feel like you need to challenge me personally. Too bad tough luck loser. I have more important things to do, than accept the challenge of simpletons on the internet.
Here you go with your name calling again. I am calling you out becuse I know that you will NOT accept the challenge. I know that you cannot drive otherwise you would not have outsourced the driving to Frank Lin who can drive.
My role is not a driver. Why don't you go down pitlane of Lemans and challenge the engineers to a race in your sentra vs. their prototype car. They would laugh at you just like I'm laughing now. HAhahHHahaH.
So what is your role? To brag about how someone else pulled a 1:29.xx in your car and tell people that they do not know how to drive when they tell you a fact that a 6 speed hand shifted gear box will slow you down. A fact that a lot of racers agree upon.
FYI, Frank told me that he never even shifted into 5th gear on the straight. You main point is irrelevant. Next time, don't make assumptions on a car you've never driven. It makes you look like a fool.
More insults, thanks. I find it odd that Frank did not shift into 5th given that the maximum speed in 4th is 105 mph. If my Sentra can hit 105 mph on the front straights on Streets, then surely the MR will go faster than that and it should require a shift into 5th.

My role is being an entrepreneur, racecar builder, and engine tuner. I don't really like dragging my name thru the mud and boasting about what I can and can't do, but since you have such a curious facination with me I will let you know.

I am proficient in the art of fabrication (I can tig / mig weld), i have 6 years experience in electronic fuel management, engine tuning, and data acquisition (I have been trained by MoTeC), I have worked on and built multiple TEN second street and racecars, cars I have worked on and built have been featured in national magazines (D-Sport), I have worked on Honda Challenge cars that would SPANK your SER, I have built open track Hondas that would still SPANK your SER, and have worked on a car that's been on TV (Speed Vision World challenge). The list of motorsports activities goes on and it will continue as I am only 24 years old. I am also a student at the University of California Berkeley.

I entered the MR to gauge if I should enter the EVO market, I am not a driver that is not my forte.

Here is the stuff I am involved with

Civic on a rotisserie

My customers dynosheet on moderate boost.

pics of my personal street/race car. It made 427 whp @ 1 bar (my low boost setting)

http://www.evolutionmr.net/pics/misc/coleman105a2.mpg

here's a video of my customers street car which i tuned from scratch. for anyone not wanting to dl it ran a 10.5X @ 139 mph.

*will be taken down soon, dont want to kill my band width*

on the 5th gear issue, fact was it did not go into 5th. not sure how you got your 105 mph calculation that was not reflected on the MR.

Here's what autoweek had to say about the MR against the RS in back to back comparisons,

At first we were skeptical the softer MR-only Bilstein shocks also increased performance, so we did back-to-back laps in the MR and RS. We immediately noticed the RS pushed more in mid-corner acceleration. The MR responds more smoothly to heavy braking and turn-in, allowing us to carry higher speeds into turns and accelerate earlier.

Also from the same author in another post on EVOM,

So is the MR worth the extra $4000 grand over Evo VII? I'd have to say yes. First off only 1000 MRs (approx.) will be produced, so there is the intangible quality of exclusivity. You get lighter BBS wheels, an MR-only six-speed transmission and softer riding, yet higher performing Bilstein shocks. Those are the major differences and to purchase and install those upgrades yourself would cost as much as the difference, probably more especially the six-speed gearbox. The gear box with its close ratios allows the driver more control over the available power and makes better use of the power band with its shorter gearing.

In all it makes for a more tolerable every day driver that also handles better, and is slightly faster due to the gearing. As a former car turner myself, finding two-tenths can be expensive and time consuming. The MR provides improvements you will use and appreciate everytime you hit the road, so while on paper the extra cash may seem steep, behind the wheel there is no question it is well spent.

No wheelie bar for me + 0-60 is all in 1st gear...you don't even need a great launch to get there in 2.9, but my best is 2.7. my old GSXR600 could do it in 2.9, but it would wheelie like crazy i think cuz of the shorter wheel base. anyway L8

I am glad that you have a job and you go to Berkeley. I hope when you graduate you will get a great job and make gobs of money. But you still DO NOT know how to drive and you are telling me that the 6 speed tranny on the MR will not slow you down vs. the 5 speed tranny on the RS. I have read this FACT in numerous racing books and, oddly enough, in the recent test by MT between the Vette and the 911.
I entered the MR to gauge if I should enter the EVO market, I am not a driver that is not my forte.
Thanks for finally coming out and admitting that you do not know how to drive and yet you have the audacity of saying that I do not know how to drive because of the FACT that I mentioned about too many shifts slowing you down. I find that very amusing.

Numerous members on this very board posted the maximum speed of the MR vs. the GSR/RS in each of their respective gears. I have double checked the numbers on several gear ratio calculators and found the same results. If we are wrong, then please correct us.
