Our DM, was in Las Vegas approx. 2 weeks ago for a mits meeting. Said he got to sit in the new eclipse yada yada yada! You get my point. He also said that the specs were given to them for the Evo 9. He said 300 HP and it will not have MIVEC. I made sure I asked him that. He said the US will not see MIVEC till the Evo 10. He also said it will not have SAYC. There is no reason for mits to bring Yaw control over. Will it be in the 10...most likely...because Mitsu can design a chassis and body that will support packaging for the whole world market. You people have to remember the Evo 7 Chassis(CT9A) was not originaly designed for the Americas market. Mitsu had to rework things in order for it to pass all the testing(crash, emmisions, and so on) Don't all of you get your panties in a bunch when the 9 doesn't have MIVEC or the SAYC.

Now this is just hearsay from a DM. Don't take it as gospel. But I can see it not coming with MIVEC or SYAC. 300HP is very achievable with the current set up.

I agree w/ Favre. Mitsu is conservative, but they have had a lot of experience redesigning cyl head or other parts like the intake mani runners (just an example) to make power. It's more cost effective to do it this way.

It is still the 4g63!...but a better more powerful version of it, with a better power curve...funny how you guys are also doing the same thing about the IX's front and back end....until you guys realize that they do things to serve a purpose(not just for looks) then theres no point of talking/arguing with you guys....its as bad as trying to get the scoobie guys to say the the Lancer EVolution is better....
ex-freakin-actly - its absoloutely amazing the skeptical, negative outlook and comments we get.

You nay-sayin ****'s all be droolin over the 9 soon I'll bet.

Me too for that matter

Hopefully they'll come out with a N.American 2.4L version based on the 4G69...

I with they would've put a turbo on the 2.4L MIVEC engine instead of MIVEC on the old 2.0L engine.

i think that if any of us VIII owners wanted MIVEC, we could eventually swap out the head in the same fashion that the honda crowd performs VTEC swaps into non-VTEC motors. my question is whether or not MIVEC will really be worth all of the work on an already potent motor. i figure some 272's, springs, ti retainers, and a good ems that cleans up our idle would be sufficient.

I'm just guessing here:

I'm no expert but i think it'll be harder to modify the new mivec engine. I'm talking in terms of tuning potential. As far as i know vtec and vvti engines are great engines but they aren't as tuning friendly as other engines. The manufacturers improve their cars in standard form (yes evolution) but with each new model they make it harder and harder for aftermarket industry. Basically it may give you 20 more hp from factory but it may also make it harder to milk out 100+ more hp as you could with the old model (variable timing, smart ecus etc.).

Tuffguy - Evo IX is most likely 4G63 with MIVEC head.

Evo X is gonna be completely redesigned engine - just sounds more like what your hoping for.

Official info on both models still to be announced.

Thanks!

I'll have to keep an eye on how the IX works with the MIVEC. The reason why I'm hoping for the 2.4 with MIVEC is the increased displacement... and hopefully more power, if MIVEC doesn't cause too many problems.

if yu want 2.4 you don't have to wait until a new car comes out... you can have it in a stroker or you can build a galant block. both have a been done and are readily available.

Yeah, but that's pretty pointless when buying a new car. If the X comes with the 2.4L MIVEC, that would save a lot of trouble, and you'd have warranty as well..

Thanks, I appreciate it. I just got my RA, so I won't be getting a new car soon, but I'd like to get an Evo after I finish school.
