If there goal is to increase sales they need an auto or manumatic. Here in a site full of fairly hardcore enthusites you have over 10% maybe more if some of the F1 box votes swung in the autos direction.
My wife can't drive a manual and has no interest in learning. I spend close to 2hrs in traffic getting to work and back a day. It may be "less sporty" but it's a lot more realistic for some people.

Yes several owners do work hard for what they own but the majority you pass on the road or see at meets got the car as a gift

I think people are mainly saying if they made auto's its also gonna be a lot of old ladies and stuff driving them, I dont know about you but when I think of sports cars I dont think of auto's with rich dumb old chicks driving it cause "its cute." If you like Evo's learn to drive stick, if not then dont get one. There are plenty of other fast autos. As far as racing goes yes autos are faster with the right one, but professional racing is a different story all together.

NIssan done went and put auto in the last SE-R and it sucks when I roll up on an SE-R to give um the thumbs up...
