I think mitsu has to add the automatic as an option for survival here in the U.S. They need to sell alot of cars to grow and come back. This is one way to increase sales. Have a set limited number of manual trannies and the rest ordered available with autos. Just my .02

The only reason i would get one is because you dont lose boost power when changing gears and mtisu makes a 5gear auto

I'd be all for it. Not only do you get the Jekyll and Hyde benefit of both modes, but you get a little extra cushioning of the driveline. For the record, I have been driving manual transmission cars since 1978, and I still like women.

Ever been raped by a e55 amg or automatic mkiv supra? The benefits to automatics are that you can wave goodbye while passing them by.

My friend recently beat a cocky viper gts in a accellearation contest by a lot of car lengths with his arm out the window in his built automatic supra.

I would like to see an automatic Evo 9. It would be easier for my wife to drive, and make a good second car to my 8. I am all for the maintaining the high performance image with the 5 and 6 speeds, but would like to see make it easier for other drivers to use the car.

Automatic transmissions should stay in BMW's and M-B's and be driven by pretentious ****** with enough money to buy a nice car but not enough sense to choose the right one.

Them and women who think "it would be cute in a conertible." Which is why we have atrocious cars like the M3 convertible automatic.

*pukes*

OK I have to stop now, just the thought of this is making me sick again.

You guys just don't see the automatic's potential in racing. I bet with the same engine setup i have now, and then i add a higher stall on the torque converter on the auto, i'd probably knock off a second in the 1/4. Wouldn't have to worry about burnt clutches anymore and i could launch off every light if i wanted to with consistency. Just ask any drag racer, a built auto is quicker than a manual. If you and i had the same cars but diff tranny's, i bet i'd smoke you =)

BMW SMG transmission is for enthusiasts, and it shouldn't be confused with a slushbox.

Wow it is interesting to see the dislike of the automatic. I am sure they could be useful in racing, with the right shift method and programming.
Are there race cars with automatic transmissions?

anyone who thinks an automatic transmission isn't good should be smacked by a transexual hermaphrodite. they also don't know too much about them and what they are capable of. they also must have the "manual is more manly and racey" mentality. which is wrong. an evo matched with the correct auto tranny capable of switching between race mode and street mode would be far better then a manual.

As fun as it is shifting. ^^^^^^^^^He's right ya know. Any serious drag racers looking to go low use auto's or dogbox.

Yeah some people prep Evos for drag racing but is that really what we are talking about???? Why not just go buy an SVT Cobra if you want a slushbox with a stall converter, etc.
