EVO X vs IX
Funny coz everyone is Judging the Evo X even before it comes out by just looking at the concept X. We don't really know what it can do right now but we have a few hints on some possibilities in term of performance. Same thing happend when the 8 came out everyone like the 7's look and everyone tought the the 8 looked nasty with its frint bumper. Also Mitsu might be trying to design a better looking performance car, (Some people might disagree on the looks of the x but looks are subjective.) Woudn't you like a high performance car and some good looks to back it up? I'm sure the Evo 9 looks and performs really well but we'll all have to wait until we get our hands on the X till then evrything else is just mere speculation.
Thanks

Pro:
more cars that will share the same power plant (but it's a dodge
)
will bring mits out of dept ( more $ for research)
wife will like it
it will blend in a little more (less cop attention

2) The turbo on the Evo X is positioned between the block and the firewall and people don't like that
3) the 4G63 despite being old is perhaps the best performance proven 4 cylinder in the world. Trying to compite agaisnt a 4G63 is a tough tough job.
4) New Evo X block on the Evo X looks like it will be made of aluminium vs cast iron on the 4G63
5) Another downside of the Evo X vs the Evo 9 is that it will truly take at least a year or so so start seing some aftermarket products while on the Evo 9 the same performance products will be available for dirt cheap and above all, the Evo 9 performance products are a 15 year certified 4G63 sucess.
The rest of the stuff is the matter of personal taste. I am not 100 % convinced on the new style but the drivetrain seems to be promising, in fact it will be the most advance AWD system in a production car in the market.

Agreed. It will go the way of the Eclipse. The 3G eclipse (stock) outperformed all prior eclipses too but it was not mod friendly. The only saving grace is that the engine platform will be shared by several mfrs.. so there will be an aftermarket eventually (unlike the new eclipse).
I think it's a bit unfair to be judging so soon about the X. All we see is just pic and concepts of the X. Some of has seen the X in person and said that the thing is just so amazing.
im one of the few people who actually really like it and cant wait for it to come out. but i do agree i think alot more people will like it when they see it in person and see how it performs.

2. True, but it also means that the turbo isn't being cooled by outside air. Also means that its cramped around a tone of equipment... though theres inherantly nothing wrong with that. In the end, it prevents things like this from happening.
3. It doesn't matter as much where the intake manifold is on a turbo car, especially if you use a spacer
4. This one I'll give you (though obviously were picking advantages for racing here)
5. True, but they are much weaker as well. They won't hold up to higher boost, knock, and all of the other terrible things that you are accustomed to feeding your engine.
6-8. schwing!
They have the new SAWD system in some evo Xs for testing. People said it was an improvement even without the extra rigidity of the chassis.
That all said I like the look, but it is a totally different one for sure. I think the current evo is more towards function and the X is more towards form, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Lets just hope they don't increase the price *too* much
Im hearing that the X is going to be LESS FUN to drive. LESS FUN to MOD and that the X has many lean points on the vehicle. I own a 9MR. Car is crazy. Best car to ever own and driven.
