the new evo looks sexy! i love the new front end the most. the rear tails are going to have to growe on me. what's up with the dual exhaust? ppl just don't like change. when the 8's came out i didn't like the styling at all. i loved, still do love, the evo 5-6 body style. i think once you see the 10's on the street it'll grow on ppl REAL fast! are they expected to be in the 40k range still ?

I read that the aluminum block is supposed to be heavier than the 4g63's block. I have no idea how that could be possible, but I read it. I don't mind the styling, but I hate to see the 4g63t go. Exactly why I'm having a brand new GG SE delivered here........

Well if you look into the evolution of the Evolution.. Things have changed over the years.. We've had the CT9A for a long time now.. It's time for change.. I'm liking the X very much.. I've got 2 EVO VIII's, and love them.. But the 7, 8, and 9 are all the same, except for the drivetrain technologies.. Just different front and rear bumpers.. Oh sorry, and roof vortex generators.. it's time for change, and that time has come.. Like an old article I read by the desinger of the Evo X, what is he targeting? Subaru's? Honda's? Lexus? No he says, just Evo 9.. I think the X will spank the 9 from the get go.. And like the other variations, it'll take time for R & D, but it'll run like mad in time.. I like the styling and what's to come with the drivetrain.. Savin my pennies.. Anyone wanna purchase a 400whp EVO 8 that's well maintained?

I think the EVO IX is the LAST of the True TUNER's Evos. The new X will be all computer driven...I've read up a little about the X and from what I've read the Automatic Tranny will give fits for aftermarket Tuners and Shade-tree Tuners alike. And I think the new motor is drive-by-wire which is awful and yet another Distraction to giaining power. yes all these issues can be overcome but Tuners will waste valuable time and $$ overcming these obstacles. I also understand the new block will have an open deck, not very High Boost friendly IMHO. yes it too can be overcome but yet again an obstacle none-the-less.
I think that Mitsubishi is going over to the EURO side of Tuning. The New X has so many Euro influences, the latest SpoComMag has an article about the proto X. Good read if you're interested. I'll stick with my IX and Tune the heck out of it.

I think the EVO VIII and IX will go down in history, as what the Modern Day Hot Rod is/was all about.

this thread should be dedicated to performance differences- comparing looks makes no sense- because anyone that bought the evo for its looks has something wrong with them

this is a very bold move by mitsu to change over many aspects of the evo we know and love today ... from the interior/ engine/ body etc ... I'm just glad that we can actually take a part in actually owning either or... (of course, if I lived in japan for the past decade or so, I'd still be driving my TM Evo VI!) but, back to reality, I'd take the IX just because it's last evolution of the 4g63 (and poss. last manual tranny!)

I have no idea how good the X is going to be, and for all I know it might be way better than my IX, but the thought that I'm driving the last Evo with a 4G63 makes me feel really good inside.

I am not buying the Evo X because it's a ****ing automatic. How low is that. That's not true racing at all.... I don't want a track car. I want a car car.

Got the magazine, read the article, and I completely agree. I am going to stick with my 9 MR and tune the bajesus out of it.

I can't wait to see what the new EVO is going to be like. From what I've read this thing is going to be bad ****. If they can keep the weight 3400 and less, if edmunds is right with power est at 320hp 325tq, and If they copy or improve the AYC in the 07 Jap EVO. This thing is going to sweet. It will crush the current EVO IX.

All this talk about the X's looks just cracks me up. Who actually buys an EVO for the looks? For me it was value and performance. Too me it doesn't look bad bad but the way it peforms was what got me.

Just my .02$
