I agree with the Nissan rep, All F1 cars us paddle shifting. Top Fuel Dragsters are Hi and Low. I know Ferrari have the paddle shifter where you can downshift at any speed and the computer keeps the car from going into panic shift an blow up the car. I all for "Auto" no clutch to burn out either. For God sake, the EVO Rally cars have paddle shifting.

One thing you guys might take into consideration, everybody is saying well Ferrari, Audi, Mercedes, Aston Martin all use these type of DSG/SMG transmissions and they are awesome. Well those are all cars that cost 100+ thousand dollars, their transmission cost more than the whole evo x so there is no point comparing the two. They have much more technology put into those transmissions and are much more refined, the evo may have the same basic principle of the DSG of the more expensive cars but I guarantee it will be nowhere near the same performance as a Ferrari, sorry.

They will be stupid not to

I prefer the manual transmission as well, but Mitsubishi is just following in the steps of several other manufacturers ... most of which made the change because the manual gearbox could not hold the power the cars were making.
Firstly, Mercedes is a luxury car manufacturer and does not produce pure sports cars. Secondly, manual gearboxes can hold an enormous amount of power when developed for such purposes. Thirdly, "true" paddle shifters are manual transmissions with an automated clutch for faster gear changes.

the smg tranny isnt much more than a normal manual... same with the dsg.. thats not the problem...

im gonna get flamed cause the evo isn't a "drag" car... but my fav thing about the evo is launching and not leaving a huuuuuge cloud of smoke behind me.. quick clip and 45 comes be4 i even pull myself forward after getting thrown into the seat

thats the reason i bought this car... redline comes soooooooooooooooooo fast..

the dsg from audi doesnt have a launch control... the smg does... im hoping it use' dsg mechanics but stronger... the a3 has the dsg and over on the audi site they are saying it has a max handling power of about 380whp...

if mitsu really wants to diick us over as far as mods all they have to do is put a tranny that can handle 300-350whp and we're all gonna be stuck with exhaust and tune...

theres a company that upgrades the dsg, and they want 5k to raise it 500-600whp... im not 100% on any of the numbers, but i know theyre very close to what i wrote...

those are my concerns... and every1 should agree.. if they dotn make the tranny strong.. then the first mod for the car is going to be upgrading the tranny and thats not going to be cheap.

Well for Mitsubishi's case I am sure they will stick a strong transmission in, they wont go backwards I hope. We dont need a mitsubishi's version of the WRX

That being said, it's already been stated that it will have a manual and optional paddle shift. To be quite honnest, F1 has been using that type of transmission for ever, obviously cause it's awesome. Look at Ferrari, Lamborghini, Austin Martin, you get the point. I'll get which ever one is helps the car accelerate faster
That's smart thinking.

Why do you type with all capitals on the first letter of each word? That's not going to get your point across better. It just makes you look foolish. Who's going to believe you if you type like that. SoCal people are just dumb. Too many ricers here with their retarded mentality.

Here is my issue with this statement.
All the cars you mentioned above are race cars where they spend majority of their time in full throttle.
It is vital for all these cars to minimize spending time shifting allowing them to cut that 100th of sec per lap/stage.
Majority of the road driven cars spend very little time in full throttle.
What's desirable in race condition is not necessarily desirable in public roads.
Many of the Manu-matic, SMG, etc. have several safety parameters to prevent damage to the tranny.
For example, most do not allow the driver to hold on to the gear even if that is what the driver desires at the moment.
All of the race cars that were mentioned gives the driver 100% control over their gear selection.
Currently only system that comes closest to that is Ferrari.
I had an opportunity to drive several different cars equipped with these type of gearbox.
Personally, I wouldn't trade manual trans with any of the semi auto trans.
