i wouldnt get a X because i cant beleive that mitsu ditched the 4g63 for this 4b11 thing. that motor had tons of potential especially with aftermarket. o and its ugly as hell. although i do like the interior.

That's ok, lots more people were upset when GM retired the venerable Small Block 350 in favor of the Aluminum LS1. Now look what those LS series engines are doing now!

I LOVE the X but I'm buying an IX for 2 reasons:

1) Don't want to buy new

2) Don't trust the new engine

I understand the 350 to LS1 comparison, but this is a first run new engine that's totally unproven and as of yet has no aftermarket support. The 4G63's aftermarket support is so thick you could practically build one from scratch without even using a Mitsubishi marked part.

I think the X will be a killer car, but the engine needs some time to prove itself.

As far as the lack of a foot-pedal'd manual, anyone who thinks Mitsubishi is making a wrong move needs to go drive a MkV GTI/GLI/.:R32 with the DSG transmission. Sure, clutches are fun, but upshifting faster than a human can blink has it's own charms.

man this engine thing is like when honda went from the B to K series engines. Sure the B's were proven reliable, but now its a straight up K series world.
