Whos not buying an X? for whatever reason
1. While 4G63 is a great engine, Mitsubishi is abandoning it for a reason and I believe the reason for it is that they pretty much squeezed everything they could out of it to offer great performance while also passing all the emission tests so it can actually be ready for production. 4B11 is an all-new design, you can't write it off as it is unproven, who knows, maybe Mitsubishi knows what they are doing.
2. And I ask, what luxury??? Last time I checked the new base Lancer has a very understated, simple interior, it's more sporty than luxury, and leather seats/navigation/DSG will probably be an option so if you don't like it, don't get it, simple as that.
3.Actually I have very good experience with my local dealer, they are always willing to negotiate, service is also decent, every time I go they don't give me prices out of this world for simple tasks, they are pretty comparable with independent shops, basically it all comes down to a fact that they want me to come back again and who knows, maybe I'll buy another car from them in few years, most of the staff is knowledgeable and not pushy, but then again, maybe it's just my luck.
4.Actually the new Lancer is a huge improvement over the last generation. Even if they did try to copy Audi, at least they know who to copy and how because the new Lancer looks more expensive than it actually is. And if anything, the new Lancer was designed in Germany by Europeans and if anything the taillights were inspired by Alfa Romeo, which again, is not a bad thing.
5.Ahhhh, Mercedes CLK AMG, while I like the performance aspect of that car, aesthetically it doesn't do a whole much to me, actually except the CLS I find the current Benz designs to be pretty much stale and all looking the same, if anything I prefer the BMW designs and would buy a BMW over a Benz anytime, anyday. And my GF is a fan of Italian supercars so you still have a long way to go, nice try but no cigar, looks like another weekend at a corner for you

3) 1 out of 50 dont count
4) Sorry there nothing you can say, I really love the EVO8 and EVO9 and think the Evo X looks like crap
5)My point was more heads are turn "both men and women"when I am in a better looking car, All I get is d*cks coming up to me on my EVO

Where did you get that price? For 39K my local dealershhip offered a brand new modified 340HP Evo MR a while ago, Stock MR costs just a bit over $36K. Just because the AWD system will be better doesn't mean it will be much more expensive (the cost of manufacturing also improves with better technology), look at the auto industry, most of the next generation cars see only slight price increases over the previous generation. The only things that will add price to the Evo X will be navigation system and the DSG tranny, the manual tranny version will be at about the same price point as current Evos.
I think the X looks great, and will perform bertter stock for stock(all around not just straight line), but in the near future its a simple matter of finances, i have had my IX RS for 18 mos and with the $4000 i have in extras and what i owe on her(prob 27000) i would take too great a loss this early on. I like to trade cars every couple years but i have a daughter graduating HS in two years and the expense is scary.
To be honest, I think anyone who has a IX and says they aren't buying a X should be thrown out of the list. It's kind of silly to trade a car that's only a few years old just to get the latest thing. So you can assume that anyone who is trading a IX for a X are a rare exception.
As for owners of VIIIs, I can see early adopters trading, but the younger VIIIs are in the same boat as the IXs. I think the true list should be limited to those that do NOT own an Evo, want one, but won't get an X for whatever reason.

I am not buying IX
reasons:
1) I am not digging the rear of the car
2) 1st year production car ( I got jibbed with my 03 srt with no lsd
)
3) Car is heavier
4) Looks like if you have issues with any part of the transmission it will be a PITA and expensive to fix.
5) Lack of aftermarket due to it being 1st year production
I will add more later

I am intrigued by the X. The reality is I love my 03' 8 to death and I just don't want any new car.
I think I'll hold out for Miev
At one time the Evo driving world swore moving to the heavier ct9a chassis was the end of the EVO (evo7). Some still argue the 6.5 was the pinacle of the breed... I think the 5 won the most WRC races??
I believe saying the X is going to be the best thing ever is just as silly. The electronics (engine management and driving aids) will make it challanging to be competitive for some time. I'll gladly eat my words if Mitsu gets back in WRC and kics a$$.
It's fairly predictable: current Evo platform owners are defensive, kids and folks who held out are overly optomistic.
