I have been feeling like the fast and the furious crowd is dying also. Cops are cracking down on us now. There is not much fun anymore. I feel that the gas prices is making everyone very depresed and no one comes out anymore like they used to. Still, it remains to be seen.

Having a look at the Japanese brochures of the evox and comparing the weights between the 10RS and the 9MR GSR it comes out like this:
10RS: 1420kg (3130lbs)
9MR GSR: 1420kg

Now keep in mind thats a base RS, so no electrics, no aircon, no brembos, no recaros and no sound deadening.

Unless the chassis and engine are extremely good then i'm going to keep feeling disappointed about the X.

Haha your funny. Reading is > than you. Where did I say I am comparing my modded EVO IX to a Stock EVO X? PLease show me. I am comparing the articles written on the stock IX to the stock X.

My car has NEVER and will NEVER go to the dealer for warranty work PERIOD. Look at the mods in my sig and you will see that I have quality parts and got tuned by a highly sought reputable tuner. If it breaks I can promise you a dealer won't touch it. If I wanted a warranty I would not have bought an EVO.

Please learn how to read, comprehend, then post your thoughts.

But FYI my biggest complaint about the X is that you have to get the MR if you want the BBS and upgraded shocks. But the Mr. is not a 5speed it's that triptronic transmission that I would NOT want to own.

SST (dual clutch transmission) is NOT a tiptronic like a regular automatic transmission, http://www.zercustoms.com/news/Mitsu...nsmission.html

You are correct and I knew that. I forget what it was called...And you just reminded me SST. I still prefer a standard 5speed.

^ That picture of the STI looks pretty nice but then again it isn't very detailed.

I've never been an STI hater. I didn't care for their interior but the performance is very good.

I'm not a EVO10 hater but it just doesn't strike me as "sexy" like the 8/9 platform did. I'm confident the 10 will have better out of the box performance and the AYC should make it faster (for the average Joe) in the twisties too. But give a great driver and old EVO and the newer unit won't shine as much as it does with an average driver.

Heck most of us track slugs already get crap at lapping days because the EVO is soo easy to drive that it takes no skill at all.

As for the aluminum block, there are plenty of cars that have very stong Aluminum block motors. I'm sure the block wont be the weakest link.

The steering feel is gone. That's a big part of the Evo.
Now I am forced to check out the shoe, i.e., STI.
Or get the 335i.

The article was good for what it was, but Im waiting for the real deal. Personally, I really want to drive this car because the handling is what has intrigued me most about this new model. I enjoy the straight line speed, but to me thats only half the story. Being able to run through turns at full tilt is where its at. Thats why I can enjoy vehicles like an S2000 or Lotus Elise (drove it a little, but I got a good feel) which will get roasted by a number of vehicles from stoplight, but are a ton of fun in the twisties. I wish they would of tested a production model, which Im sure Mitsubishi has ready (the Tokyo Motor Show is less than a month away) rather than a pre-production. It leaves too much speculation. If its the same numbers though I still wont care because from what I see it looks to be an excellent car that excells in a number or areas. I like that. Balance. I like the new vehicles on the horizon. The 09' Camaro, Challenger, Ponitac G8, BMW 135i, New STi, Caliber SRT4 (hey, I think it looks nice, bull-doggish lol) Volvo C30, etc. Its great in the auto industry now. The one thing though that does kinda get to me is the steering with the Evo X. As mentioned the hyper-responsive feeling is gone. I loved the way the Evo 8 or 9 move any with the slightest input. Now, will the Evo X feel numb and dull? I dont know. I know that articles have said this about a number of new vehicles compared to their counterparts and sometimes to me it doesn't feel any worse when driving them. Its really the feel to the driver. However, if I have to get use to a little less communication for amazing cornering Im fine with that. Having a vehicle easy to handle well wont mean that true driver skill will become diluted, because any mom and pop can do it. The Porsche 911 GT3 is said to make an average joe look like Schumacher, but in the hands of the talented the limits are incredibly high. Same with the new BMW M3, some reviews say its softer, others say you have to dig deeper and you'll find another amazing machine from Munich. Im sure Mitsubishi knows whats on the line. Besides, their jobs..lol..they need a profitable portiflio of vehicles. Offering a more hardcore Evo may of satisfied the likes of me and others, but Im sure it would backfire. Say they shaved a ton of weight, added more power, and only added the bare essentials? Of course the performance would be through the roof, but than they would have to charge an MSRP of like 50k. Some would be fine with that, but Im in the other group and would have to look elswhere for my performance fix. Plus in ths worle people are all about bang-for-buck, so offering a vehicle like that would only appeal to a minority and then we would have another Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, Mitsubishi 3000gt, Nissan 300zx, story; amazing vehicles getting scrapped because they are no longer profitable. I would hate this to happen to another icon. Creature comforts and SST trannys aside (even though I think its awesome and Im a die hard manual guy) I think this car will be a good entrant in the world of Evolutions. Hopefully......

The review may be based on a Japanese spec X, but I just can't get around this simple pronouncement on the opening page of the review: "The Evo X is less communicative, larger, heavier and slower compared with the previous Evo."

Say no more.

The EVO is dead. The IX was the last one.

That would be me Truthfully I am also a bit dissapointed at how much heavier this car is, 3,500 lbs is alot of weight, I am sure this is the main factor is the slower speed performance.
