Evo X review
Wow this is kind of disappointing, what happend to the torque. Did they de-tune the car, not that a 11 pound ft or torque and a possible 10 to 15 more horsepower would make to much of a difference. Also the X is slower than a IX, if these stats are true, then it will be right around as quick as a IX which is still a little disappointing.
My two worst fears about the X may become a reality- A considerable amount of more weight and not enough of a power gain.
3300-3350Lbs and 306-309HP/311TQ would have been great
but
3450-3500Lbs and 295HP/300TQ (wow, I am gonna go cry now) I still have a slimmer of hope that maybe we will still see more power, and hopefully the car takes well to mods.
I mean hate to say it, but perhaps it is time for a bigger engine. I mean if they want to change the EVO so much, then let's not ***** foot around it.

Just a point, but they tested a X from Japan, wouldn't the U.S. version be heavier in that it would require crash bars, or do the new JDM ones have them? Interesting to point out that the August Motortrend issue had the X's 0-60 estimated at 3.8-4.0 seconds. Seems like whatever the real numbers are, there are quite a few disappointed X fans.
^ I think your right the prototype versions would be lighter and don't even factor in the added crash beams and other weight gaining it would receive from the USDM market. I know that the JDM VIII and IX's are about 150-200 lbs lighter than the USDM Evo's. Anyways it will be interesting to really see what minor mods/ bolton's can really do to awaken the new Evo X. IMO I think the Evo X has lost all of the rawness that made the current Evo's so fun and enjoyable to drive.
I also think it's too early too tell, you have to wait until a shop get's a hold of one and what they can extract from it.

I didn't say that nor was I implying that. I merely stated that the USDM Evo's and JDM Evo's differ from that amount of weight. Also this car is just a prototype. So who know's what there's to expect with the finished product.
I just really think that what we are seeing on those pages of C&D is the real thing. Still I've thought about things and maybe it isn't so bad. I mean it depends on what your looking for, the car as the magazine claims is all around a better performance vehicle than a IX (despite losing its rawness). I mean it will probably post faster track times than the IX and in my opinion straightline performance is probably identical to that of a IX. So in other words it is a grown up EVO that offers identical or better performance, so in many ways it should translate to more sales. Still I guess I just was expecting the EVO X to be even more, to be a grown up EVO that destroys all other EVOs in performance. Maybe that will be the EVO XI, but all isn't so bad with the EVO X. Also you never know, I remember when the info for the IX came out I was a little disappointed, and the Ix turned out to be very special, maybe that is what is in store for the X.
I think it's still too early to judge the Evo X, I mean has anyone on here driven one yet? I think not... you can't base your judgement on one review of a prototype model. I like alot of you guys have big hopes for the new evo, and am planning on getting one.. For all your guys from the states, I believe you didn't get AWC in your 8's and 9's? but I think you will in the X.. If I'm right about that, then you guys are soon to experience one of the best handling road cars ever.. So its really not that bad..
the newer generaton of cars is driving me bonkers... im 21 but owned my first turbo car at 18. Ive been into turbo cars since i was REALLLLY young, totally bounced over the ricer phase, never cared for fast and the furious and was never a v-8 guy... i completely bounced over allll that, but this style of car is just DYING! the tuner cars.... whats happening!?!?!?! the second these cars become hybrid im tossing the hobby....
anyone see what i see in the IX and down? rugged, mean looking, not just a pretty face but has a lot of density behind it... by density i mean power, potential, knowing it all wheel drive and just saying damn... anyone hear me out?? i dont feel that with the X AT ALL!!!! i dont feel it with any new car coming out.. the new skyline gt-r..its no rb26det.. get where im going with this?

I hope this is just a "bad" road test on the Evo X and I hope that it will be a faster road test performed on the near future that would not dissapoint people the way it is dissapointing now.

the X is just what i want, a more solid car with an auto. it seems like its not going to be gokart like the 8-9 but it will be a good alternative to the audi and bmw. cant wait for the a4, 335, evo x , sti shootout.
i guess now people have the right to say "ITS JUST A MITSUBISHI" like my bmw friend says. Nothing special about it. They lost eclipse in past they lost evolution now. But for sure they will sell more units than past
