Its not the same type as its predecessors the most recent road and track review made that clear, it doesn't have the same precise steering feel, if it doesn't feel like an evo it isn't one. The STI is what the new evo should have been. An evolution of the current car, not a differen't kind of vehicle entirely.

I'll take my cheap plastic interior and road noise, thats why I bought the car I wanted a raw mean awd beast. If I want to get something similar in the future it looks like i'll be in the market for an sti.
yeah, good luck with that search... tell me which mass market production car gets more "hardcore" with each generation?

i think all criticism of mitsu and the EVO is uncalled for simply because if you don't agree with their "new" business strategy then obviously don't buy one and just shut up about it. it's their car and they can do what they like about it. the enthusiast point of view holds almost no water because it represents so little of the overall market. would you rather mitsu go under and have no evo at all? from the looks of things i'd say most here would rather see that...

You're kidding right? How many stock used evos do you find for sale, 5% maybe less? This has been a car marketed at the enthusiast since the beginning.

i'm not talking about only evos. i'm talking about all cars sold everywhere. how many of those cars are real sports cars?

you stated the problem right there. mitsu has been selling the evo as a hardcore racer that appeals to the enthusiast, and ONLY the enthusiast. enthusiasts don't represent the majority of the market. mitsu wants to break out of that mold with the evo.

if they made tons of cash selling a hardcore evo they wouldn't have changed the formula. too bad only 20 y.o. fanbois like evos. 30-40 y.o. businessmen and executives like M3s, porsches, etc.

mitsu can't break into that piggy bank with the last gen evos. remember evolution means change.

Regardless of the criticisms of X car Mitsubishi will sell them all and they'll make a nice profit. Exactly what they set out to do! If you don't like the car, don't buy it; someone else will.

You do realize Lancer Evolution's are the top of the line trim level of regular econobox Lancers. Lancer Evolution's are the biproduct of WRC rules of having 3000 publicly sold production cars to be able to participate. So if you consider how regular econobox Lancers were sold compared to LanEvo's....the percentage is tiny. Lets put it more in perspective for you.

E39a Galant VR4's...the VR4 only exist for the same reason the Lancer Evo's exist, WRC rules. Galant VR4's are a trim level of Galants...GL, GSX, VRG, LS, ES, etc etc. Galant VR4's only made a very small % of total Galant sales.

1g and 2g Eclipses were available in 4 trim levels..RS/GS/GS-T/GSX, and the GSX being the top of the line model. GSX's only account barely 1% of total Eclipse sales of either generations model run.

A manufacturer isn't going to survive based on exclusive only cars...because like what MadFast stated enthusiast only represent a tiny % of the market, and that market won't pull Mitsu through financially wise. That is why Honda and Toyota have success...Civics and Corollas are everywhere, because that market of car buyers are the ones that generate the profits for success.

Regardless of the criticisms of X car Mitsubishi will sell them all and they'll make a nice profit. Exactly what they set out to do! If you don't like the car, don't buy it; someone else will.
My exact finishing statement

Why do people even respond to these threads?
This site is for Evolution and Lancer drivers and when the new Lancer and the X came, all I am hearing is haters, now.

And for Konad, you OWN an EVO and you yet have no clue what is goin on with Mitsubishi.
The point of making this new Evolution is to get their foot back in the US.
It's quite obvious that the sales that were pointing toward the enthusiasts, isn't making their target P&L. (profit and loss)
So they need to try something different to keep the enthusiasts interested and to get new consumers to buy the X.
That's why these threads that are complaining about the X is just stupid.
Go start a thread that concerns your whip and leave it at that.
Why bother with the X if your not buying one, anyway?

So..for all the X haters.
GTFO and go do something with YOUR car and let the guys who are curious and excited about the X talk about what they like.

And we shall see, how many X haters turn into X lovers.
And to those guys who do turn for the X vs against it, get ready to be flamed by the guys who watched you write comments on how you hated it.

Man, I tell ya! It's no wonder almost every mag says the "fanboys" won't like this car. Especially since these same mags haven't disliked one thing about the car.

actually your evo 9 is a pig when compared to the pure rawness of the evo 6. The evo 6 is much more fun to drive than your 9 because of all mechanical diffs, lighter chasis and excellent cornering feedback. The CT9A although is a stronger chasis also feels softer and more refined... (according to magazine reviews) so the evo 10 just takes this all to the next level. Mitsu was trying to get where they're at right now step by step. It's not like everything happened overnight

Just what I was thinking

The "X" haters think the Evo X is a slow heavy pig....the 7-9's were slow heavy pigs compared to the previous generation.
Evo IX FQ 320 versus Evo VI

#30. I researched the numbers, I have had the thoughts for from the beginning that Mitsu is planning to sell more cars not here, but other countries like Australia. Also for the maturing Evo owner, they will trade in their Evo for a more conservative look and safety and automatic.
About the topic Mitsu took a big step when they went from a 10 year/100K warranty to 6 years/ 60k warranty. but sales is 17% up so far, so I could see that. Also I am surprise the Gas mileage is 18/25 mpg .
But keep your Evo, it'll be the last of true handling on a high wire string Evo for long, long while. I might just take Wing out to satisfy the status quo, but I can't yet, cause I promised my son he has the last say so. Keep your Evo and good luck to you all!
