EVO 10 GSR AND MR OPTIONS FOR THE US... not a question, info inside...
While VW does have great interiors, they have a poor reputation for build quality and reliability. VW is consistently in the bottom 5 of all makes sold in the US for reliability. Audi does slightly better, but still can't beat Mitsubishi, which is itself pretty far below the industry average. If those are things I was looking for, I would look elsewhere.
conclusion:
my point is that Mitsubishi is putting their dealers in a tough position 6 months after initial release (after the initial new car smell & glowing first-drive magazine reviews period are over) the Evo will be taking on cars from a broad range, cars it's ill equiped to compete against.
The interior of the X is absolutly beautiful imo ne way. When I saw the pictures, u definiatly knew the price was going to go up. 35k is pretty reasonable to me and I definiatly wouldn't be able to afford it. Just have to wait until the used ones start to become more and more available.

(remember, my only experience with Mitsubishi is with a early MY 2003 Evo 8 which had plenty of problems)
Hmm I think I see where you are going with this. One question though from which side should we invade?
i find it interesting how so many of you are complaining about a car that is priced above 30k to begin with.
like it matters if the car costs 30k, 35k or 40k?
the fact is, you'll spend more than the sticker price if you finance it at less than 0%...which most people will probably do.
i would also argue that you shouldn't even consider buying a new car unless you can afford to put half or more down...and make enough to not worry about the insane depreciation which inevitably happens over the first 3-4 years.

what is your definition of "affording" a 40k car?
i am not going to buy an evo until i can put 20-25k down on it...and even then i'll hate the idea of making car payments.
but my only debt is a house payment and two student loan payments...i guess it just depends on where your priorities are.

btw, most 37 year olds will not buy a Mitsubishi, plain and simple. If they have to spend 40+ on a car, it will be a luxury brand.
Mitsubishi will have shot themselves in the foot if the starting price for the MR is 40K.
mitsu's pricing strategy is spot on.
evo: for those who want everything. speed and luxury, but ya gotta pay.
Ralliart: cheap speed, well equipped. great value.
lancer: peppy car, great chassis/handling, great looks in segment, well equipped, dirt cheap.
don't complain if you can't afford an evo. and if you can afford the evo but don't want to pay that much for one then get a RA or don't get a mitsu at all. they don't need you. they'll sell tons of these cars with or without you.
