Ummm, perhaps because the number of people waiting for an MR announcement nation-wide is far greater than the number of MR-curious people in New York?

NYIAS is the last major auto show of the year
If
wants to get the word out, it should be hereOh wells guess I'll just get the new Acura RL j/k
most of the guys that wants Evo proably bought it already.. And most of the guys that doesn't have the money to buy the evo, are saving money for teh regular evo.. they don't got the extra money to buy the MR
You guys, not to burst anyone's bubbles, but magazines aren't always spot-on. Magazines are, after all, entertainment literature. They're there to make money. They'll say and print stuff to make money.
The only sure-fire source to trust is Mitsu. And when Mitsu started bringing Evo7's to US car shows, and talking about a state-side release (hell, even bringing the Evo state-side for magazines to test!) you *knew* something was gonna happen. If the MR ain't here, then it's unlikely we'll see it..

Yeah, looks like probably a bust for the MR. It'll come, I'm fairly certain of that...but I bet they'll keep cranking out the "regular" evos for another year before the MR is in dealerships. So, if that really is the case, what does it take to get one imported now that the "similar vehicle" exclusion from crash testing is in place. As I recall, the "similar vehicle" lets us import an MR as it is substantially similar in virtually all ways to an already US legal vehicle (for purposes of the NHTSA...not in our eyes, of course) and thus can be imported and street legalized. Who's got the lowdown on this? I'm going to possibly have to import one.
Why?
Sorry y'all, but just need to vent a bit....
.
Why are we as automotive enthusiasts in the good'ole U.S.A., constantly screwed?
Every performance icon either comes here late, or never... while across the pond, our European counterparts are in a literal smorgasbord of sports cars.
Oh yes, we do get all the super exotic cars first, but that's because we have more expendable income than anywhere else on the planet... Ferrari, Porsche, etc. would go under without us buying a majority of their autos
.
Oh yes, and we do get every SUV and truck built under the sun...
.
But when it comes to cars, well, yes, you know theirs concerns about crash worthiness, pollution requirements... you know, the government cares about us.
Bullsh*t.
Someone's going to tell me that all those excuses for boring lives and genital inadequecy are safer? Pollute less? More environmentally friendly?
Well, if you think depleting the worlds oil reserves faster will lead to less pollution in the future, perhaps ...
Especially in this time of mounting anti-
sentiment fueled by oil money, should we happily let everyone drive alone a vehicle that gets 8-12mpg?
Of course, because the big three need SUVs, trucks to survive... since that's pretty much all they make. I don't think they make cars anymore
.
So in the government's effort to protect the 'BIG THREE,' they create the illusion of environmentalism and safety by attaching imported cars that don't have whopping luxary and gas guzzler taxes... they need to make money right?
And we get bent over in the process (sans K.Y. mind you) and our dreams destroyed.
If things were more pro-car, we would have multiple Evos to choose from, including the FQ-330, on lists for MRs, and perhaps shopping over at Subaru for a Spec-C or an allocated WR1.
Just my thought... thanks, I feel much better.

I'm still wondering where RalliArt is. It's been over a year since they said "they were coming." I wonder if it's all just a ploy? The Mopar packages for the SRT-4 are nice - why can't they do that for the Evo?
What happened to "strengthening" the brand name?
