Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
Or maybe they are making the US "tester" look like a normal EvoViii to drive it in real world roads without undue attention. Who knows... I say you sit there and wait for the owner to come out and ask what's the deal.

It does have a manufacturer plate....
Thats what I believe to be the US MR test car .. its an MR, has the tell tale aluminium roof ridge. There are some reports of export (RS2) models of the MR not having the dark lights. It may also be a RHD RS2 (made for some european countries that drive on the same side as you do) .. in that case it would have AYC as well.
If you see it again.... take a pic of the rear diff....
us model = ACD, no AYC.

too bad you don't have a picture of the shifter and tach, the 6 speed has that little ring that you pull up for reverse right? And with the acd isn't there a little area in the tach that says gravel, tarmac, and snow to show what mode it is in? i could be wrong
i thought the ACD had 3 modes, for gravel, snow and tarmac or something like that....could be euro. i saw a blue evo about a year it was released here at a stereo shop, they said the guy imported it from europe

Those indicators are in the dash.
Look at details not cosmetics .. The wheels have the standard mitsubishi nuts and you can seethe bilstein yellows thru the wheels .. you guys may be getting the MR without this nice cosmetics .. there's nothing to denote the differences other than the interiors ..
a couple which you already know .. different recaros, ACD indication in the speedo, roofline ..
Hey .. if you really want to know .. bend down (so to speak
) look at the rear diffs (or the front diffs) .. there should be 2 tubings that run out from the diffs (for the AYC/ACD hydraulic pressure lines) ..

I think it's safe to say that's a US-spec MR getting the shake-down. I've seen tons of pre-production cars (including having driven a pre-production Evo while RMR worked on my car) and this is indicative. MFG plates, the correct wheels, the ACD button, the roof, etc. all add up to it being the real deal. Very cool... I was waiting to see the pics before waving the BS flag, but I think this guy did a good job. He should send these pics to a US car mag and make a little $$.
I contacted my dealer in So Cal about leasing an MR to drive daily until the Skyline comes to the US.
