Not all dealers are greedy bastards
Hell if I get a MR for MSRP or less and show you documented proof can I *****slap you?
Damn, if the regular evo is gonna have the new front diff and ACD, I'd be glad to take that and avoid haggling the $10k dealer markups on the MR.
I guess I'll have to wait for that new edition cuz my local dealer just sold their last Evo, it was BBY too!!! *sniff-sniff*

Mr Info
No firm date on the MR yet from the factory but will be ordering 05 lancers next week! So it would be my guess that we'll see them early 05. If anyone is serious about buying one let me know. I can get them flat MSRP. And yes I am 100% serious.
dcorn, maybe you need to check your profile settings, and make sure your timezone is set..
Why is it always everyone or something else is wrong, not oneself? Jeez.
Can't wait for the 05s to roll in and the MR and it's super leightweight to rip around the track, and maybe for next years one lap.
Your ordering 05s 7 months in advance? Hrmmmm...

276hp/282lbs-ft for the engine. ACD, Aluminum door beams, Aluminum roof, front helical limited slip diff, 6spd tranny, bbs wheels, bilstein shocks, hid's.
The MR also has aluminum/carbon fiber brake grip, shift knob, and pedals...turbo boost gauge is standard. "vortex" roof spoiler will also be standard on MR. Expected weight to be down about 300lbs. In case anyone is wondering these are for sure specs straight from mitsubishi's production people. Let me know if I can get anymore info for ya!!!

I would love to get at least the ACD/Front Helical diff combination here.

This drastically reinforces the reports in several magazines that the MR is coming here. The fact that it doesn't have all of the exterior "show" pieces of the MR means nothing, as that has no bearing on the drivability of the vehicle. They will need to complete a full testing cycle for emissions, safety, etc., long before the first production model ever reaches our shores. Keeping that in mind, I would say that this discovery does not mean that the MR is going to be arriving at the dealerships any sooner than the initial reports. The probably took one of their existing pre production EVO VIIIs and dropped in the MR spec upgrades. It makes complete sense from an engineering standpoint to do this. Why spend tons of money building expensive pre-production prototype cars, when you can save a bundle using an existing vehicle to build it. They can use this car as a baseline, and then make any tweaks necessary before the final production models are built. Keep in mind that the fact that this particular car is black does not mean that it will come in that color as a production car. What I would suggest is to try and make contact with someone at the facility. Tell them you are really interested to know about the car. If they don't want to talk to you then go to one of the car magazines show them the pictures, they probably have contacts on the inside. In fact the magazines probably know about the car already. The magazines are actually published months after the articles are actually written.
We're (or at least Kahmed79) to smart for that tactic.
AutoWeek today still says the MR will be here by fall:

And why not? It's essentially the same car, just a few different parts to bolt on, and if they already have the parts made, which they probably do because they're the same for other MRs, then this could come to market quickly. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but can't the MR be considered a trim level, allowing Mitsubishi to bypass a bunch of the federal regulations before selling it?
