Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
Somewhere along 88 pages I lost track.
Has this info been posted yet? If so, please ignor.
For '05 base Evos will receive 276hp and ~280lb/ft torque.
All will get the front LSD.
The RS and the MR get the aluminum roof with the spoiler, canards or whatever.
ACD is standard on all Evos.
I guess the regular Evo retains the steel roof so the sunroof must still be available.

Dealer called...
Not a lackey, the General Manager called.
The general manager who has been specifically told that I don't want a base Evolution, or an RS. The general manager who has been told not to call me unless it's an MR, no matter WHAT deal he could pull on an '03 Evolution -- because unless he can make a Mica Grey MR happen, I'll be in an '05 S2000.
Well, the regional rep made a stop in after being hung up having to go down to Bridgeport, CT (was supposed to stop by 2 weeks back). The GM has been told an MR is coming. It will be here as an '05 in July or August. He will be calling back in a few weeks with additional information, and he's going to see what he can do on aggressive pricing, as well as making all my Eclipse's remaining lease payments dissapear into thin air (in which there's 7 left).
Man... my Honda dealer is going to be CHEESED if this is for real. I pretty much got them to write in blood that they'd give me an '05 S2000 in Silverstone on Red/Black, with the hardtop and hardtop cover for $33K (which is an unheard of deal) fresh off the truck as soon as they come available.

if the dealer signs that they will sell it to you for msrp, then they will have to right? Even if they are only 2,000. Anyways, did anyone else hear all this stuff that the Mitsu rep said at the SoCal meet?
This is Definitely the MR. It's obvious what they have done here is to take an VIII, and modify it to MR performance specs probably for testing in the US. This drastically reinforces the reports in several magazines that the MR is coming here. The fact that it doesn't have all of the exterior "show" pieces of the MR means nothing, as that has no bearing on the drivability of the vehicle. They will need to complete a full testing cycle for emissions, safety, etc., long before the first production model ever reaches our shores. Keeping that in mind, I would say that this discovery does not mean that the MR is going to be arriving at the dealerships any sooner than the initial reports. The probably took one of their existing pre production EVO VIIIs and dropped in the MR spec upgrades. It makes complete sense from an engineering standpoint to do this. Why spend tons of money building expensive pre-production prototype cars, when you can save a bundle using an existing vehicle to build it. They can use this car as a baseline, and then make any tweaks necessary before the final production models are built. Keep in mind that the fact that this particular car is black does not mean that it will come in that color as a production car. What I would suggest is to try and make contact with someone at the facility. Tell them you are really interested to know about the car. If they don't want to talk to you then go to one of the car magazines show them the pictures, they probably have contacts on the inside. In fact the magazines probably know about the car already. The magazines are actually published months after the articles are actually written.

Well I hope they do come that early just because it's ridiculous for the '04's to just now start coming in to the dealers... i mean we are almost half-way through the year. Anyways, GPTourer, that information you posted above about what all the '05 models will be getting, where did you get that from?? I am curious because I had not seen that before anywhere.
As promised, I have put up some of my shots from my visit to the local Japanese Mitsu Dealer. They were surprisingly cooperative and let me shoot pretty much as I pleased - I guess it helps that it was a rainy Sunday afternoon with no other customers in sight too.
Anyway - you can find a simple photo gallery that I just threw together here:
http://www.lonewolfone.com/EvoMRGallery/index.htm

The original Pics are about 2000 pixels wide @ 300 DPI - if anyone is interested in copies of the originals, please email me and I'll try to accomodate your requests. Please allow me some time to get back to you though, as I will be travelling throughout the next 2 weeks, so I may not have a net connection until at least the 24th.
Best,
Hash.

...all this makes me wonder if I should have waited another year to get my Evo. Then again, I think I got a great deal from my dealer, so I'll be plenty happy with what I have.
Cheers.

Sorry to say they are standard, not much is going to look different from a standard EVO... here is the one that will really get you though...the engine improvements are for ALL 05 EVOs. So is the ACD and the front helical.
You are kinda funny Toocold. what papers did u sign on lol. they dont even have the car. We are not kids here. They made fun of you when they said it will be MSRP. Ask any one on these forums if the MR will go for MSRP and they will laugh at you. with 2000 units they will find deep puket customers in a sec and they will through yr money back in yr face when u say its not MSRP.
