I will keep my evo and buy a spec-c, cant go wrong!!!

If anyone read what Rax posted (link) the roof loses you around 9lbs
while being extra sensitive to dents and in case you have an accident.
Same with door bars. I'll keep my steel bars thank you.
Aluminum is prone to crushing when hit hard while steel bends.
There are some engine mods which would not be as hard to transfer over to the current Evo but not all of them but in general I don't feel too bad.
Only thing I would really want on my Evo is similar or lighter weight wheels and shocks.
One thing I'd like to do in the future is swap out stock LSDs with Kaaz or some other similar mechanical ones, not ACD or SAYC.
There will be parts from MR we can use.
I'm all for bringing it over but there's not way I'll trade my puppy in.

it's an awesome choice for the "evo buyer" out there right now (or soon i should say, since it's not out yet).. but evo owners would be nuts to trade in their evos, since they'd lose their butts on it!.. it would be much smarter to use that lost money to upgrade their current evo with even better parts than the MR comes with.. and stomp on the MR's performance numbers...
They don't car these car's "Evolution" for nothing!
I look forward to finishing the current car and I can't wait to see how the new one is in person.
More than one way to skin a cat... These cars are awesome in either form

The more aluminum the better ... fear is a horrible thing ... door bars - unless you do a lot of city driving are unecessary weight and then you wantt side air bags as well anyway. If you use it on the track copiously you'll likely have full cage anyway. IMO, less weight is always better, as long as the car keeps its torsional rigidity. Let's see where

The alu roof though, you take a dump and lose that weight

Not worth it in my opinion but then I do street drive my car most of the time so thus the comment about the steel bars as well.

Nope. That's the standard rear bumper in all markets except the US, we get bigger ones to meet US bumper regulations. That bumper has been the same since the VII. I agree that it looks awesome... but since it was designed with the VII's bodywork in mind it looks a bit angular on the organic lines of the VIII, designed by Olivier Boulay. In fact, only people in the US get the true Evo 8 bumper, since it was designed to reflect the shape of the front bumper. The smaller JDM and EDM bumper is carryover from the VII.

Our bumper is bigger because of our strict US bumper regulations. The front end was designed the way it was because Mitsu knew it needed a design that would be capable of being released "world wide." The Evo8 was the first Evo designed with a worldwide release.
We don't get the JDM bumper because the bumper beam that is required here in the US doesn't fit in the normal JDM bumper.
Hmm... as much as I would love to have the MR, I'd be hard pressed to trade in my current Evo for one.
I think the only thing that would really, really, and I mean REALLY convince me would be ACD/SAYC. AYC was left out the first time because we have emissions stuff where the AYC is supposed to go. So unless
has some ingenious idea to pass emissions, then we probably won't see that. I think there is a chance we might see the ACD, but there's one thing that lingers in mind.
I remember Mitsu quoting "In the future, the US Evolution will evolved differently than the one in Japan. It is possible that in a couple of years the cars will be very different from each other." This is the one thing that makes me very doubtful of a full blown MR. If they didn't spend the time to get it right the first time, the chances of them doing it now are rather slim. I'm not trying to squash everyone's hope here, but this is what I personally feel.
The roof, bilsteins, wheels etc... they're nice, but I can live without them. If the MR comes sans ACD/SAYC, then there's really no reason for current Evo owners to buy the MR. Just buy the Quaife front LSD that's coming out in the summer, and spend $3K on some good coilovers and suspension tuning, and you'll have the MR in the bag. The MR is a great choice however, for non current Evo owners and for those who are not planning to mod their car.
Just my .02.
