Anyone happen to notice the model and picture? It appears to be an RS.
Weight is 2921 lbs (1325 KG x 2.2046 lbs to Kilogram = 2921). Stripper '03/'04 Evo 8 (no sunroof) is 3263 lbs. That's a 342 pound difference, 10.5 percent in weight.
But this isn't the MR. The difference between '04 RS and '04 evo is around 120 lbs (no sunroof).
If the difference is the same the MR to RS, the new MR should be approximately 220 lbs less than the current '03/'04 evo, or approximately 3040 lbs, just like the Sam Mitani article in the first R/T edition of Speed said, (3085 lbs).

I mentioned 4 cars
'04 RS I think weighs around 3150 lbs
'05 RS 2921
'04 Evo 3263
'05 EVO MR around 3085
Please correct me if I'm wrong about the weights.
Weights
So why would the 05 RS be 230lbs lighter than the 04?
I know of the aluminum top, etc... but the claimed weight savings is 22lbs, and the door bars are something like 10lbs. Where is the rest coming from? 230lbs is a lot of weight. FWIW - Completely striping the interior is probably only 250lbs. I really hope it's true, as i'm in line for an 05RS, but I'm skeptical.

3260 - 3085 = 175 lbs saved from 03 Evo to 05 MR. If the MR is coming in at 3085. Now if a titanium exhuast and strut bars, lug nuts, and light weight SSR Comp Rims can get the weight below 3000 lbs that will be just fantastic. With a few bolt ons at 325 awhp and < 3000 lbs that should be plenty zippy.
Now if only they would tack on 10 lbs and include cruise control...

My dealer tells me that MSRP on the MR will be in the $33,000. Add his $5,000 F**K ME charge and you are at $38,000. In California, the F**K ME charge will be $10,000. Is it worth it? I think not. I paid $27,500 for my 2003 EVO VIII with 4 miles on it. David Bucher is making sure that it flys. Good enough for me. SamDiver74 is right, lets just enjoy and customize what we have.

You'll be thankful when your oversized frozen novelty drink doesn't spill over the sides!

Mitsu - don't screw this up.. It's an enthusiasts car, not a cruiser car for lame-o-s. Next thing you know they'll be offering fold flat rear seats.

VIII RS vs. MR RS is 10 KG
VIII GSR vs. MR GSR is 10 KG
Then also remember that the VIII in japan already had the 6-speed. Your are mixing up the US weights and JDM weights along with there different measuring practices.
You're looking at this all wrong...
Thanks to Mitsubishi's Advanced Cupholder Doohickey (that is what ACD stands for, after all), you'll have extra frappucino's on-hand for all the blue and whites. Now, if you keep a box of glazed Krispy Kremes in the car, you could probably get away with just about anything!

Not soon enough!!
Those 15" RS-As kick ***. at least for using as fuel to keep warm. They should help keep the krispy kremes all toasty for the piggies. And it adds that little extra flavor of burnt rubber to em! Those were some of the best tires for turning into puddles of flaming rubber on the slocus for the first 6 weeks while I tried to destroy em.. Man I miss those non grippy floaty days.. Well at least the IX will bring back those good times! Woohoo! The clutch should hold while those tires screach and moan and roll under until they pop...
