If it wasn't already official enough, Mitsu is now stating exactly what was posted here on EvoM:

The cupholder is confirmed!

For all those 03/04 owners who don't already have buyer's remorse, they must now! Glad to see Mitsubishi taking such great strides to keep their enthusiast customers' thirst quenched! I am now eagerly awaiting my '05 MR's arrival, with it's "improved convenience" over the '03 and '04s!

Actually, I should bother the GM, and see if he knows when he'll actually be able to place to order.

AFAIK, orders for the first MRs are going on the July or August order sheets. From that, figure a 60-day lead. That puts us in September - October for the first deliveries.

Damn, that pretty much settles it. Funny though, at the top they say the MR has a bigger turbo, and then they say it all models have the same horspower...must not have wanted to let the cat out of the bag this early....plus

Front helical limited slip differential All Models (STANDARD)
Electronic active center differential (E-ACD) All Models (STANDARD)

Had to do this to make the antilocks work across the board.

good news for all. Now we just have to wait for the order system to open. Talked to distribution no confirmation from the top on delivery dates YET. Still a big window...anywhere from Sept to Nov. A lot depends on the number of 04 EVO's they have at the port. Hope they get them sold quickly so they open orders early enough for Sept deliveries

Seems weird that the '05 MR will be here so soon since the '04 cars have only been here for so long.

Wierd that Mitsu got a clue? Kinda, but since the Evo still has no cruise control option or SMT, things are still normal and not as good as they could easily be with Mitsu.

Does anyone know if the MR comes with a stereo/radio? Not that it is critical, I'm more interested in a locating a head unit that can play DVDs with wma/mp3s. Nice to have 4.7GBs of mp3 music on one disc.. It's nice on the laptop, so I assume in the car it would be even bettah..

I believe the MR should have a radio. As for cruise. I've actually done a number of long distance drives up and down the coast and I never really noticed the lack of cruise. The quick steering and on-boost nature tend to make you throttle happy, so you don't get too bored or tired. Although, each person is different. I think you'll forget about cruise control after a few drives

OT: Alpine has a head-unit coming out soon that's going to be "iPod-ready". By this, you hook up your iPod. From the head-unit you can do everything as you would on the iPod -- dig through directories, mess with playlists, etc., just as easily. This with your iPod buried safely in the center console.

Also, any head-unit worth its salt usually doesn't care what media is in the changer. DVD-changers are rare, but they are available if you want to go that route over the iPod.

But Evo + comfort doesn't add up for me. I'm going into the MR fully knowing that it's going to loosen my fillings.

Also notice, no mention of blacked out tail lights and headlights, MR specific seats, carbon inserts on the dash, S-AYC (duh!), auto climate, nor some of the other new engine pieces. But things may change between now and the fall.
