Volk wheels (lighter than BBS) $1,800

actually, that's not true. the latest sport compact car quotes weights and says the mr bbs wheels are lighter than volk te-37's in the same size. the quote them as 2.76lbs lighter than the regular enkeis.

Interesting point - to add to the discussion on the limited production run of about 1000 units.
Some are of the opinion that Mitsubishi would step up and meet demand. Maybe, maybe not.
However - I'm willing to bet that in a year from now Evo IX will be here with all the MR goodies, and possibly costing a couple grand less than current MR whatever that price may be. This will keep demand going for another year until the monster revamp Evo X with a major make over.

Dizz - what is the cut off for the free schedule maintenance?

More fodder for everyone. I have a deposit on a Graphite MR at MSRP. The dealer left a message this evening stating the MSRP is 36k with a ship date of Oct 6.

This MSRP could change, the dealer could be just giving you a price, just so he doesn't under price the MSRP. Right now as I have said as this topic is getting so old. No one knows what the MSRP is, just guessing and hopes up a 33,000 to 34,000 price tag.

Rs Vs Mr

Add to RS:

Factory VIII carbon fiber wing $1,800
Bilstein shocks, parts & labor $500
Volk wheels (lighter than BBS) $1,800

Now you have a lightweight, 5-speed MR for $31,100.

You said wheels , carbon fiber wing, shocks.

But you forgot stereo,Power windows,Mirrors not painted,no HID lights,or AC

Just a few minor add ons lol

I'm interested in a track car. Don't much care about all that comfy stuff. In Calif., due to our hot summers, all RS have A/C. Other than that, I can live with the Spartan RS.

You can get the RS for invoice and not sticker, so that would drop it to about 26k for the 04. not sure about the 05 price.

Why even bother with a stock wing for 1,800. just get an APR full carbon fiber wing for $560. if u like the stock wing look, u can find many used ones for sale, and just paint the outside part of the wing black to look more like the real MR

It really isn't that crazy that some of us thought that. Back towards the end of 03 and well into this year when we were first getting news of the RS's arrival, every report stated that it would come with no AC. The 04 Evos are pretty mysterious altogether. I've spoken w/ Mitsu dealers that still believe there was no such thing as an 04 Evo

I hear what you are saying, all the literature back then said no a/c and referenced the "urban jungle package"...but since then there are plenty of people with Rs' that have posted up here.

I remember when I had my 03 I asked about the RS and the sale manager said, no such thing...
