Talking

no shes not buying one now especially after the guy at her work was whining about his warranty. i am fine with voiding warranty on the after market parts, but on the whole car altogether or because im wanting to take it to the track? id say no. plus the 2.65l upgrade from xcceleration looks pretty good. my girlfriend is now deciding on between the s2k and the g35(one sexy b**ch). thats the car. heh heh

'05 RS is $27,000 and, I believe, can be purchased without dealer mark-up, unlike MR. RS has same 276 hp engine and aluminum roof as MR, plus more weight reduction measures than MR.

Add to RS:

Factory VIII carbon fiber wing $1,800
Bilstein shocks, parts & labor $500
Volk wheels (lighter than BBS) $1,800

Now you have a lightweight, 5-speed MR for $31,100.

Actually, I have no idea how much the Bilstiens are. Let's assume you are correct at $2,000. For that money you can have Tein flex coil overs with Electronic Damping Force Control, and they are adjustable for ride height. I have a set on my 350Z, and they are great.

Revised price for lightweight 5-speed MR with superior suspension and wheels to Factory MR

$32,600.

With dealer mark-up, I doubt if you will get an MR for less than $40,000.

Yea Gruppe-s is selling the bilsteins for 2k.

Dont forget most of the people who reserved the MR did sign a contract for sale at MSRP, so they will be getting it for less than 40k. Whether or not the 6spd and badging is worth it, thats up to each person.

Ok how about this:

Estimated MR MSRP $36000/ Down payment of 10% ($3600)/ 60 month finance/ 7% interest = $709.27 a month

Estimated Basic Evo MSRP $31000/ Down payment of 10% ($3100)/ 60 month finance/ 7% interest = $610.76

So is an MR worth $100 more a month payment?

For those who can afford it, and want some exclusivity, the MR is a steal at 32, 36 or 40k. What can you get brand new for 36k that will 1) drive as well and 2) there are only 1000 of them, nationwide! For ever MR on the road there are 800 Corvettes, at least.

Please let us know where you got this MSRP. And go ahead and get your source to give the official MSRP of the MR as well. I think alot of us would appreciate it.

I'll add my little 2 cents worth of information to this post.

I talked to another dealer on Saturday who quoted me 33-34k as MSRP for the new MR... take it with a grain of salt because this guy was pretty clueless. Example, I was asking him about reliablity of the EVO and he starts telling me "people are having problems with these cars because they don't know how to drive a race car, which is what mitsu made here". Then I mentioned about the clutch issues people are having and he response was "again this is a race car, it has to be driven like one, meaning you need to push the clutch down to the floor for ever shift". I thought you were susposed to do that with every car.. Hahaha, some dealers are just too funny.

Still no luck finding MY evo for the right price.. the search continues!

I was using the '04 RS msrp. I don't think it's going up much for '05, but then I guess I don't know for sure. They have had some trouble selling the RS, so they can't really raise the price a lot. There would no point in having an RS if they can't sell any.

If you're paying 7% interest you're getting horribly shanked. I've already gone loan shopping and I'm getting 3.9% without an issue. Though depending on your credit score, YMMV.

As for the Bilsteins costing $2000... there are similar shocks from Bilstein for higher-end cars built to similar specs that can be had around $1200 a set, and I believe even the vendor pointed that out, and that he might be getting pegged for ordering overseas. I say if you're paying $2K/set, you're getting shanked as well.

I still think the MR will come in under $35K with destination. I'm looking to hack $2000-2400 off whatever that number is (reasonable, considering they have 4 folks who'd gladly buy my traded-in Eclipse for a figure that's making them hand-over-fist), and stick 15% down after that (would've been 45% if I wasn't supporting my folks). For this kind of car, the payments are pretty reasonable.

But, we'll see about pricing. I have a gut feeling it's still 2 weeks away for whatever reason.
