No, it is the exhaust housing outlet dia. and the waste gate port that is changed.

All im saying is i want an AWD turbo car and these two cars are the best out. Im not sure what you think is a lot of money but 30g's to 35's is a lot to me and i just want to make sure i get what i pay for. Im not going to deny that the evo mr is probably one of the sickest performance machines probably ever made, but lets not get it twisted, its a "mitsubishi" and the interior although functional, it is cheap and ugly. My brother had an 03 evo and he did just a few things with tuning and his car was sick fast. He wrecked it and he is going to get the MR also, but he also said if its close to forty he might be pulling out of the deal. I understand the purpose of the car and its mainly function and i like that about it and thats why i put three g's down on an MR. But for something in the way upper 30's, i better be getting a blowzee with that mitsubishi.. cause im sure that all my warranties will be avoided when something goes wrong.

Nobody should get their panties too tight so quickly before we even know what the price is.
Er, pricing hasn't been released. It's not on dealerlink. It's still TBD. That $33,055 might be an agreed upon price, but its not MSRP.

As for arrival dates, mine is supposedly October 2nd, but truthfully, I expect things to be pushed back 2-3 weeks.

Sounds about right I was told Oct 20th.

I think that the earlier pricing estimates were around $33K , but newer sources all seem to say the same thing - "under $35,000."

I think that the choice between MR and Sti is more a question of which car you really like, than it is about price if you take Motor Trend's as tested prices:

MR $34,900.
Sti $33,698. (with short shifter)
-----------
Dif $1,202.

Assuming you buy at MSRP or are faced with similar mark ups, there's not much difference here.

Well, I shall withold judgement until a concrete price comes out, but if this is true...it's not something I'm liking. I earn enough to afford an MR, but I certainly won't pay that for it. Looks like it may be an RS or GSR for me.

True, but I think that's a very questionable assumption. Based on the latest info, my best guess is that the MR will be had at around MSRP by a lucky few and $3,000 to $6,000 over MSRP by everyone else because of the limited numbers and the self-professed chicanery of a significant number of Mitsu dealerships (my dealer said he'd be asking $5K over for his MR).

Given that STi's can *easily* be gotten for $500-1000 over invoice all across the US and Canada, you're probably looking at a *realized* difference (i.e., what happens at your checkbook) of significantly more. For example:

$34,900 MR MSRP
$ 3,000 Average dealer mark-up
-----------
$37,900 MR Final before tax (no options available)
$ 2,274 Tax (6%)
-----------
$40,174 Final MR "out the door" price

$30,575 STi Invoice
$ 750 Average addition to invoice
$ 578 Typical options (short-throw shifter & autodimming/compass mirror)
-----------
$31,903 STi Final before tax
$ 1,914 Tax (6%)
-----------
$33,817 Final STi "out the door" price

So now you're looking at a difference of over six grand (or more) for a lot of potential buyers. The MR may be worth that premium to some DSM die-hards, but it'll probably convince many people who don't have any predisposition towards either company to take at least a second look at the STi.

I don't own either car (yet), so I'm just trying to be objective about the numbers I'm seeing. Of course, if the MSRP comes out a bit lower, that helps everyone.

not a bad idea at all. I'm just liking the reviews on the 6 speed though -

"snick snick" might be worth the extra.

Really this is the best way to look at it. You have to decide within yourself if your willing to pay a large price for a car, because we all know a car like this isn't a investment because the minute you drive it off the lot the value drops. You have to be able to ask yourself that if you go out and buy a $35,000 vehicle will you regret it. I'm sure all of us in are life have bought something we regretted.
Now for the people that are being told to pay $5000k plus grand over MSRP, just walk away and shop around. I mean it's a nice car, but it's a Mitsubishi, not a Viper or a 25th Anniversary Corvette, etc...
I was quoted, backed in writing by my dealer that whatever the MSRP is, he will sell me the car $300.00 below. Now if you have to drive to the next major city, or even the next state to get this similar deal, would it be worth it. Yes IMO.
Bottom line shop around for the best price, or what you are willing to pay, don't just go to the local dealer.

The standard 5-speed shifts nicely...throw a shortshifter kit with some new bushings if you need it tighter...

It seems the performance bang for the buck goes to the STi if the MSRP of the Evo is $34900.

STis can be bought for less than $500 over invoice which is about $31k.
If people pay MSRP for the MR, it will cost $35k.
The difference of $4k is significant especially if there is a high sales tax involved.
Mitsu should price the MR at $32k.

If I were to shop for one of these cars, I would ask for the 05 GSR which would have the ACD and front LSD? The 5 spd is fine.

That's pretty high, but it's still damn near the most fun for your buck available.
