tuning with afc or flash

tuning with afc or flash

i'm going to ams in a couple of weeks to get my car tuned.just wondering if i should get the car tuned with afc or just get custom flash or both. also will be tuning cam gears.how much horsepower will i extract with tuning the cam gears.when they do a flash what do they tune.thanks for the input.

Um, do you understand what a flash or AFC even do or how they work? Figure those out and you'll have your answer.

yes i do understand i have a safc.its just not tuned.but what about the flash?

Definitely go with the flash. The AFC doesn't control boost or timing which are both important parameters that a decent flash will adjust.

Don't expect to gain much power from just adjusting gears but, you should be able to move the power curve around a little bit and fine tune it for your car.

Search around in the tuning and drivline forums you'll find a lot of info on this stuff.

Why not just get the cable and reflash it yourself to fine tune? The AFC will mess up your timing a bit because it's altering the signal to the ecu to think it's in a different part of the fuel/load map, and that in turn also shifts it in the timing map.

If your going to AMS to get tuned you might as well get a custom flash from them. There is no need for an AFC as the custom flash will yield great results with a good tuner.
