sounded like a faulty fuel component (fmu). what to do to avoid that from happening? i dunno, but i haven't heard alot of good things about the vortech fmu rrm uses and their 'special" disk.
perhaps a rising rate FPR would be safer/more reliable

nothing is being written in stone yet. basically the fmu from vortech is ****. i don't recommend anybody to buy parts from vortech as they are ****ty and their warranties are completely unrealistic. what happened was from vortech, they didn't tighten down and use loctite on the bolts holding the bottom bell on to the top disc. im driving down the road, not even making boost, and im detonating. nothing is BLOWN, but i have some investigating to do before i figure out what the loss of fuel pressure has gotten me now. i'm glad that people who were given half *** stories can come on here and speak for me and make assumptions.

a new fmu will be the first thing that i need to get, that way i can hook up a fresh one and see where everything stands after that. then i will know if other things were significantly affected by the event. after that happens i'll take the information ive got and work from there.

yeah, i don't think i've heard about people blowing cause of boost on stg2, its always been a weird quirk (fuel problem, weird leak, etc)
so if its the fmu (and I think you said it was), is there any alternative other than just grabbing another vortech unit? i dont' know how the stg2 pb works, but i'm gonna guess you have to use the fmu and disc rrm provides, so you might not be able to hook up a better fuel unit (be it another brand fmu or rising rate fpr)

im not sure, basically, i can use the fmu, or i can go standalone, which would end up costing me a lot more money, which is completely pointless as to why i did all this to my car. ive spent the money, and i should be able to use what i have, and one cheap *** vortech part is stopping me from doing that, i'm not going to use that as an excuse to spend an assload more money on a standalone. im not sure if some kind of fpr would be compatible with what im running right now, id have to look into that, i would really like to stay away from vortech products, and i encourage everyone who reads this to do the same, they are half ***, and unreliable, there are plenty of people who ***** about them as it is, so it's not like this is a freak accident, fmus are turning out to be a big pain in the ***, and when u spend this much money and time on a project, i dont' think it's fair that a 160 dollar part put it down the ****ter.

amen man, i hear ya. it really sucks that something so small hinges your entire setup.
i know you want to stay "plug and play", but if you don't want to go back to vortech, maybe pick up a rising rate fpr (rpw sells them through vision and uses it on their turbo kits) and then go emanage or something like that. thats still alot of money, but it may put you in the clear. figure 200 for the fpr, 500 for emanage and applicable harnesses, and another weeks salary for an afternoon of dyno tuning

Every detail counts. Unfortunately the FMU was pissing fuel out the bottom of it. Matt caught it, perhaps too late. I have a call in to Vortech but they are not too responsive. Problem to Vortech is that it has been so long since it was purchased and used in the kit.
