2 Quick Q's (small intercooler & first buys)
2 Quick Q's (small intercooler & first buys)
I searched and thought about these and couldn't find much in the way of specific answers so:
1. If I use a smaller intercooler (think wider, shorter top to bottom) could the crash bar stay in? I'm sure it would require custom piping but I'm going to need that anyways to get around the clutch slave issue on my MT 05.
2. What should I buy first? I was thinking the tactronix cable + evoscan, so I can flash the ecu and start learning how to tune while I gather parts. Then maybe start installing gauges and getting the custom manifold made?
I'll start a build thread as soon as I start getting parts in.
Thanks

All depends on what your looking to spend on the Intercooler.....If ya look around, you could get lucky and score a really high-Q one. I ran a cheap one for about 6 months cause it was free, but shopped around and landed an Extreme Turbo Systems 2G Street Intercooler for $150...Fits perfect without any modding of the crashbar....

Since it sounds like your gonna piece the kit together, picking up the cable and getting the boost and wideband in would be a great start...That way your able to get in and see how the maps all look and prepare your for tuning once its boosted...Gauges being already in there will also help you get used to how it runs stock...and seeing how the wideband responds.....After that...well, its all down hill....lol...buy as you find the parts. The rest you'll be able to learn from reading all our threads
Good Luck...Keep us updated with picks

Thanks Grind3r, that is exactly the type of intercooler I had in mind!
Ok, excellent, I have a plan! Get the custom manifold project started, get the tactronix cable, evoscan, and all my gauges!
I'm so flipping stoked about finally being able to do this! ;-D

Ok new question:
I'm about to buy a tactrix cable from www.evoscan.com and there is an option for evo4-9 AYC/ACD reflash support (no pin9). Do I need to check that option or no?
I'm assuming no since i havent seen anyone mention it in any threads...
thanks

From what I understand, pin9 will do nothing on our cars, so you can have it removed if you want. I don't *think* having it would cause a problem with the connection. I just left that option blank and added a note to my order to the effect of "I have a 2005 oz lancer m/t please send the appropriate option with regards to pin9, thanks).
In hindsight I'd probably just click the option to take it off, but I put the order in before I knew all this.

Ecuflash licensing is pretty simple. If the cable is not licensed to ecuflash it will NOT work with current versions / non hacked ecuflash. It will however work with evoscan.
