You could just run a return line back to the tank if you are so attached to that fuel pump. Another opion is to try a pump with a little less pumping power.

Yeah I had thought about trying a 190, but for now I'm just gonna put my stocker back in and keep it under 3k.

So how much have you spent so far on your setup? And do you have a list of all the parts you used?

I finally found out what psi my wastegate opens at. I was driving it today when I got off work and was noticing that I was never boosting more than 3.6-3.7 pounds. I gunned it up to about 5k and sure enough it's opening at about 3.5-3.7 pounds.

It seems to be idling a little better but nothing over about 500-600 rpms and my gas mileage still sucks out the ***. So I'm gonna try a 190lph fuel pump and see where that goes.

I've decided I'm gonna put my stock fuel pump back in and use an inline fuel pump controlled by a digital fmu. The inline pump will only kick on when in boost.

I'm trying to understand the post here. Are you trying to relate the problem with your wastegate to being caused by the fuel pump? If the wastegate is opening up too early, the spring needs to be changed to a stiffer one. Either that or get a boost controller of some sort. Of course, be sure to rule out any boost leaks as well. For max boost, make sure you do your pulls in 4th gear.

No, I was just posting that I finally found out what my wastegate spring tension was. The fuel pump is a different area all together. I was sayinig I'm reworking my fuel system because it's flooding the engine with gas and causing my horrible idle and gas mileage.

Ah okay...now it's a little clearer. As far as the fuel system goes, your pump shouldn't dictate whether you are idling bad or not, unless it is not putting enough pressure out. If your FMU was stuck in "boost", then yes too much pressure in the fuel rail can cause the car to run rich. At idle, or any time below zero psi, the FMU should be returning all fuel to the tank. What are you using for fuel management? (electronic wise?)

On the return style fuel systems on the pre-04 Lancers it wouldn't matter how much the fuel pump pumped it would only use what it needed, but on the 04 Lancer's since they have the returnless fuel system every bit of fuel that is pumped to the engine has to be injected because there is nowhere else for it to go. Therefore I can't use a standard FMU to control the fuel pressure I have to use a Digital FMU hooked to an Aux. inline fuel pump that is activated when in boost. It's all very frustrating, but I'm figuring it out bit by bit.

The '04's have a different fuel system than previous years. There is no return line for the extra fuel to go back to the tank. He had put in a Walbro 255lph fuel pump and it was running constant via extra injectors. This caused the engine to run rich at idle. Changing to a FMU that will turn on the inline fuel pump only during boost, IMO is the best way to go with a returnless system.

EDIT:
YOU BEAT ME TO IT!!

actually, the fpr is built into the fuel pump assembly. unlike other returnless systems, the 04's don't have a variable voltage pump to regulate fuel delivery.

what're you using to tune your extra injectors?
