My friend got an Alladin2000 on his Yukon which has the remote start feature. I asked the guy at the shop what I had to do to get it and he said basically its the same components as an automatic plus a clutch bypass (for cars that you have to start with the clutch in). He also said that you have to sign a waiver so you can't sue him if the safety doesn't work for some reason and you start it while its in gear and it runs over somebody. I believe the parts were approx. $50-$60 plus labor. Unless you know A LOT about alarms I wouldn't reccomend trying to install this yourself. Good Luck.

i was thinking about putting remote start on my car, leaving it in gear, then impressing girls with it as i make it "hop" towards me. then my transmission falls out the bottom and i have to take the bus home. girls won't be impressed with that

There are remote starts made for manual transmissions. I picked one up off ebay that runs a combination of door sensors, etc. General principle is that you don't turn the car off, and get out of it... It knows you can't be out of the car with it in gear and the engine running... When the door closes, the system sets and the engine turns off... You can then remote start the car so long as the doors haven't been opened... If someone opens a door, the system shuts down until it is reset again... Seems pretty engenious to me.
