How to improve sound?

I have a generic monitor installed, and it doesnt put out as much wattage as my original Pioneer head unit.
Ive noticed the sound is much weaker, I barely hear or feel my speakers unless the volumes all the way up.. They were much nicer before.

I have HP Speakers (Front & Back Doors) and Factory Speakers in the Rear Top.
The HPs sound better than stock, and I like them.
I want to replace the rear top ones sometime too..

What can I do to improve the sound. I figured an Amp would work, but I dunno much about Audio.. so what must I do?

Thanx!

To improve quality or quantity? Both could use an amp; then for quality get a better deck and speakers. There is different technology that say a Pioneer/Alpine/ Eclipse would see vs generic. But that's all up to you man!

run all the speakers from an amp, the quality will only be as good as the speakers then

Well their better than stock, and sound nice, so thats as good a quality as I need.
I just want to hear them to their potential.
Can 1 Amp improve all of them, or do I need more? (How many Watts?)

Yes, one 4-channel amp will be fine! I use 50w RMS per channel on my MB Quart components; trust me, that'll work just fine.

Not necessarily. You need to get the information on your speakers first. First what impedance are they? It's bad to run 2ohm speakers with a 2ohm unstable amplifier. Second you need to figure out the RMS rating on your speakers. For arguments sake we'll say that they're 65 RMS. You therefore need an amp with an RMS rating of 65 or higher, but not much higher,

Just remember that it's better to overpower speakers a little bit than to under power them.

You'll be fine with this.... ( http://cgi.ebay.com/MTX-AUDIO-TA3404...QQcmdZViewItem ). Just a good example; I loved the power that my 6004 put out, but since I had two amps @ over 2000watts...my alternator didn't like it. Had to give it up. But just one amp, this one is for you!

So a 4-Channel Amp will do for all the speakers?

At 50W RMS (<-- Whatever that is?)

Whats the total Wattage I need, on the Amp?

RMS=minimum power output at any pt. 4-channel will be perfect, or if you what to add a sub later...a 5/6-channel. But those can be expensive. RMS is really the most important factor when getting an amp, plus the THD factor. Read up if not familiar with the term.

Have you soldered the wires connected the stereo to your harness? I definitely noticed an improvement over the terrible crimping best buy did.

hi, i was reading this thread and i got a question..

you guys were recommending 50W RMS X 4 to CityKnight.

if the amp's RMS power (4 ohms) is 70W X 4, is it safe to use with the 50watts speakers?
