Unfortunately the lancer isn't a dsm. I know the dsm community has a bunch of free mods out there that actually worked. I used to own a dsm. The lancer doesn't really have any "free" mods per se'. I saw your best shot is to spend 15 bucks on a MAF adapter plate and an air filter and get rid of the stock airbox. Other than that you're gonna run into cash. Save up for that piggyback. Its the most effective horsepower mod short of a turbo kit. And it responds well to other bolt ons, so its a good starting path. If you can wire a few wires upside down in your passenger seat, then the install is easy enough for ya.

Nothing beats turbo, but ya gotta set goals

Can you write a how-to on this? And what was the benefit?

Good job mate, I think this is something that can be done. Did you see the schematic of the EVO TB, on page 4 I think, that will be a big help, maybe, to locate the proper hoses.

yeh it looks easy enough, im gonna go to autozone on saturday, find either a complete new hose, or one of those nipple thingys (he he nipple) and have a go at it.
It should help alot, cos i was cleaning out my throttle body the other day and it was hot as hell,. hopefully this will get rid of that somewhat. i will do the touch test and see.

From what I've read the coolant line flowing through the TB is to help start-ups and to warm the engine. It's just that as you continue to drive that hot coolant continues to flow. Inturn heating up the TB which makes the incoming air hotter.
Usually after driving for about 10-15 minutes straight my car's acceleration would become a little slower and the throttle response a bit weaker. After performing this "mod" the engine didn't become sluggish. I've had this "mod" for more than a year without any adverse effects.

Remember:
-This "mod" will not increase HP/TQ. It will only help retain the power that you began with
-This is similar to buying a TB insulator; like the "4G94 Throttle body insulator phenolic spacer" available from Accolade

-Heat is the enemy

i live in florida, so the engine being warm is really not a problem at all. its like 90 degrees here. I do know what your talking about with the car being sluggish. my car is quicker in the morning after a cold night, the throttle is better and the steering is infact looser. lol

The sluggish is refering to the lose in TQ/HP because of the incoming hot air due to the hot TB after driving for a while.

so this coolant trick should help get rid of some of that right?

i have a sri and heat shield, plus i got the stock air funnel/duct hooked up too.
this all should drop my intake temp alot.

click that link i put up, most of the answers are in there.

either get 1 long hose or get a nipple and connect the two hoses together. Then put plugs on the the throttle body nipple thingys

You could just bypass the TB and run a hose straight from the "in TB" to the "out of TB". Or you could do the nipples.
