Question Free Horsepower/Mods?

hey everybody my names wes im new here and i have a question for everybody i own a 2005 lancer es auto man i love it i have a pic on my phone were i had it 130+ I love it to death but its just to slow for me now about the only thing that i have thought of so far is to remove the air filter before i race it hehe.. but im a college student so i only have a part time job all it does is pays my payment my insurance and pays for my gas so i have no money left to buy mods for it i was wondering if anybody has some ideas or some tried and true methods for freeing up some horsepower i have built many V-8's from from the drainplug to the air filter i have recently switched to 4 banger's so anything yall tell me about these cars would be ever so greatly appreciated thanks

there isn't much you can do unless you get a PIGGYBACK and load a few new maps. That's the only true way to go unless you save up and buy some bolt on mods.

Save for the piggy and you won't regret it once you see what it'll unleash from your baby.

Then after that little by little, you start buying some bolt-ons. No need to rush and get yourself into a big debt.

Or save alot up and GO TURBO!!!

yeh thats what im doing. im broke also. but im buying bit by bit. this friday im buyin an Ebay intake kit, and a K&N filter, so it should come to about $50-60

What's up Mr. Columbia... As far as free mods go, good luck with that one. But take your time to wade through this site and you'll find everything you'll need to know. For example, the v.2 RRM piggy is the best "bang for your buck" (when you get bucks).

ty fellas my girlfreind found a site that sells K&N typhoon cai for 177 bucks shipping is free incase anybody is wondering the name of the site is www.autopartswarehouse.com i would like a piggy but it cost out the azz but ive heard its well worth it its like 4?? somthin odd dollars but with 20+ horsepower gains and the abilty to fine tune the motor with sftermarket bolt ons its well worth it the only site that i have found is road race if anybody knows where i may find one for cheaper plz post it ty

Have you ever heard of "The Definitive Guide to Low-Buck Performance" book? There are over 40 suggestions of things you can do to improve performance.

Oh yea. Some are free and you will need to put in a lot of wrench time. Some aren't that free and you will need to put up a little money and of course a lot of time under the hood.

those "free horsepower mod" guides look pretty good.

which ones of those are really do-able though? a couple of em look scary. Like the throttle body coolant bypass, looks kinda risky, and then the IAT sensor relocation n such.

I've done the coolant bypass without any sideaffects and its very easy.
