Ok, I think you're confused on how EcuFlash works. The definition files are what are used to decode your ECU's ROM. This is what is inside the .zip file. When you tell EcuFlash to open a ROM, it is referring to the ROM file you've pulled from your car's ECU and saved to your computer. ROM files are in either .hex or .bin format, since it is an image file.

You need to extract your ROM using EcuFlash.

ok yea i knew something was off yea i was reading the ecuflash tutorial long ago and thought i can view it that way idk i need to refresh and gonna read it again plus i wont be able to pull my rom till i get my cable i got a guy im buying his laptop and hes throwing the cable with it and it has evoscan for cheap

ok well after two days of reading the ecuflash for base lancer and the tuturial now i have a better understanding of it. now i just got to wait till thursday when the laptop and cable come in and then i can start working with it hands on

ok well i got my cable and laptop on wednesday and tried to pull my rom but when i tried to pull it a little window popped up, i cant remember what it said but it said that it couldnt find something and i had to choose the third option to open a pop down menu to choose the option for 2003 es auto then i was able to see the rom but im not sure if that was right or not i did put the def files in the right location and this is what mines supposed to be

Added definition file for 2002 ES - 88560019. Extract to your rommetdata folder and choose "yes" when asked to overwrite files.

All definition files have been updated so that they now only work with the newest versions of EcuFlash. These definition files will NOT work with v1.29a or prior. Please update EcuFlash to the newest version available to use these definition files.

Is there a definition file for a 2005 OZ also does anyone know where to go to get base roms and modified roms?

earlier in the week i dl my rom and inherited with old 2005 definition auto and do i need to just reinstall 1.42 openecu b/c my rom after update is the same
( all jumbled) and says i have manual and i have auto

I re-upped the definition collection with the corrected endian values for 86640015. The auto/manual entries in the definition files are merely cosmetic for cataloging purposes. Tell me what year/trim/trans and ROM ID you have and I'll make the change to the master definition list.
