Not any harder than tuning your stock ecu, actually its easier since this ecu is made for a turbo car where ours are not

i got it figured out you have to just lift that tap by the two indents there just slightly up then you have to insert something into the front of the clip and lift the little white tab for whatever pin your removing

So sounds like there might be an issue with the map values of the evo 8 ecus compared to ours. Although the 05 ecu is the only one with a DTC to present the problem the 03 and 04 do not have this DTC still trying to figure this out though.

yup tried that and it wont come. plus it just sanpped in a few places, i mean its all together, and in one intact piece in the connector, but it will not come out! it comes out far enuf to get a really small flat head in there and then it stays right there i can not move it any further.

could you just cut and swap the signal wires? it would make it easier and would prevent further damage to that white pos thats holding the wires in there.

Well if a car comes into the shop with a broked wire you just put it back together again the correct way. Solder it and then heat shrink on it and you should be good to go. So i dont see why you could cut and solder them back together. i would

and thats what i thought.

i called ams performance today and the guy "said" that i could cut it and he doesnt see any harm done, but he could also neither confirm nor deny any problems down the road.

for my wideband going over to simulate a front o2 sensor i noticed i cut the wire and butt conncted it together way back when i did my turbo in the first place.

I cut the wires, swapped them and soldered them with heat shrink on the wires. I have no intention of ever running a stock ECU again.

I thought I would bring this to your guys attension , I just purchased another evo 8 ecu off ebay for my eclipse , and I hunted til I found one with the same part number as mine and ended up paying 320$ for it because I was looking for something specificly like the one I had. Well anyways the part number was mn132874 on both my evo 8 ecus yet they had different roms in them. One had the 94170015 and the one i Just got had the 96940011. I did some digging and apparently there isn't much support for the 96940011 rom so I relashed it with the 96530006 and put in all my lancer settings and bam it crunk the car right up , so apparently some roms are interchangable ...

the 96940011 is the stock 05 evo 8 ecu rom, this ecu was the one giving me problems so I sold it and am now looking for an 03 04 ecu. You are correct, for some reason this rom has much more code than the others and not much room for programming (tephra mods etc.) It would run but kept getting a cel. May I ask if you know what year ecu you have?
