Evo 8 ECU Swap Works!!!
Someone somewhere dissected the ecus and found the same processors inside, same model number and what not I believe. Still...if you've got the evo ecu, why the heck not! Only diff I know of is you don't have to reverse wires if you just flash the evo rom instead of swaping out the whole ecu

Correct the processors are identical. I have done both I had an evo ecu in and now I have an evo rom in my lancer ecu. I have seen no distinct defference in ecus they both perform the same as far as I can tell. You could run with the evo ecu. Or make it easier with no wire swapping and just flash that baby right into your stock ecu and then sell the evo ecu and use that money for something else
Oh ya here you go

I suggest you sell the ecu you have coming and use it for something else lol. I have been running a tephra V7 evo rom in my lancer ecu for some time now and it works beautifully.
i dont think it would cause the RA have mivec so using an evo 8 ecu cant be done but im not sure if you can use the evo 9's ecu since they use mivec but im not sure someones gonna risk their engine to confirm if it would work
I have a question about this, and it may have been answered already. But here it is: People are saying "the evo ECU reads load up to 160 or so on my car, where the stock ecu only reads 100" Does this mean that if I flash the EVO ROM to my car, and copy/paste all the fuel and timing maps that are currently in use, the same values will be chosen in the lower ranges? I know that's sort of a confusing question, but do I need to have the "14.7 plateau" be larger now, because what would have read as 60 load in the lancer rom is reading as 100 load in the evo rom?
Basically does 60% load in the lancer rom = 60% load in the evo rom, I realize the upper ends like 100 load are going to differ, but what about the lower values...30..40, etc?
thanks.
Edit from reading other threads and such, I think that I've answered my question with research. When you swap to the EVO ECU or Rom, you should basically have the same fuel settings as far as hi/lo octane maps and timing....but then tune them for boost, so reducing timing more for each psi of boost and adjusting fuel maps for getting the proper 12 AFR or whatever your target is. Basically, with the lancer ECU, once you start getting near the 100 load mark....it's not nearly as accurate as the EVO ECU, which continues to be accurate at and well above the 100 load mark, right? This might be why there is that whole thread about "i go lean at 10+psi" or whatever thread, and ppl adjust their maf scaling to richen it up.
This is still...by far...the most important tuning step for "budget lancer turbo guys", and even then....maybe biggest news ever for 4g94's and turbo's (including senate's findings that the evo rom just flashes straight onto the lancer ecu)
Still, if you have thoughts on load values, like does 40=40 (load) for evo vs lancer roms...I'd like to hear them.

ok so this is my first post on this web site.
Im workin on a 2003 Lancer ES automatic
it is currently making 283 HP i dont know the torque right now.
he wants MORE power so i was under the impression that an EVO 8 ECU would bolt up and i would have to swap mad wires.
FALSE
i will put this out there for clarification for everyone
EVO 8 ECU WILL NOT PLUG IN to an Auto trans lancer ecu. the plugs are differant
(has anyone solved this problem with some simplicity)
i keep hearing about a dual ecu but in all the pin outs I have seen, I do not see anything in the ecu that controls the trans. (any input or more pinouts would be great)
i have already bought an evo 8 AEM EMS and am determined to get it to work.
Road Race motorsports has installed THREE!!!!!!!!!!! boxes to modify his stock ecu to make more power but it will NOT idle right NO power off boost. and stechy power on boost.
im willing to represent ALL the automatic guys and experiment with this car if i can get some help.
I will make a full write up one i get it workin.
thanks

Most of the auto lancer guys are using a ROM that is the stock lancer auto rom with Tephra v7 mods added to it. It allows for some serious customization and power additions to the stock rom. Can I ask what you are making so much power with currently? piggyback? also, what boost are you running?
Evo ECU only bolts up to the lancer manual, but the rom is also flashable onto the lancer rom....and 2 wires get flip flopped.
The auto lancer can NOT take the evo rom flashed onto it, only the special rom that is an auto rom with various things added/removed.
Also, check out Demon_nii or whatever, he's an auto lancer running a very large amount of boost on some forged internals and e85.

you wont believe this its ALSO a SH7052F as far as i can tell
