It's possible, you'll have to run dual ECUs.
The original ECU will just be controlling the tranny

That's pretty much the gist of it. It will involve some serious re-wiring as you will have two ECU harnesses spidered into the main harness. If you have a factory service manual, some extra ECU harness connectors and some patience it will work out OK. The trick is to figure out which input/output wires will be needed on the ECU and the PCM.

Better off just to swap to a manual transmission for power levels above 250whp. The amount of work that would be needed to hold 300whp+ on these transmissions (initially meant for under 120whp) would not be worth the money. You'd be better off taking $1200 and shipping your manual Lancer trans off to TRE (what I'm doing) for a stage 2 rebuild and a damn-near bulletproof trans that can handle whatever the 4G94 will ask it to throw down.

Is this for an auto? Because I thought that if you just get the evo 8 ecu everything would ok for a manual?

Yes, that post was regarding the ECU swap for an auto Lancer. It is pretty much plug-and-play for manual Lancers.

The amount of $$$ it would cost to make a Lancer auto trans hold that kind of power would be more than the value of some people's Lancers and, IMO, a complete waste of time, effort and money. And in the end, there's a pretty good chance that the power won't even hold past 300whp.

Yes. That is what this whole thread is about. You can swap an Evo ECU into a 4G94 Lancer with minimal work.

Just picked up an EVO 8 ECU and hope to install it this weekend.
Hopefully it solves my problem of running rich then lean.

You should take a look at your open and closed loop load tables and make sure they are switching at the right RPM, load and throttle % for your setup.
