The Evo ECU swap isn't a power adding mod. When I said I was tuning it, I meant tuning the AFRs to how I had them before on my Lancer ECU. So the fuel and ignition values are now the same as how I had my Lancer ECU tuned. The graphs will probably look identical when compared.

I've been messing with the VDR a little bit, but I don't have any really good third gear pulls in my logs to produce a suitable graph. They were all to short. I was focused more on on tuning WOT and cruise trims. I've been meaning to do a couple straight third gear pulls from 2500rpm-redline to see how the graph might look. I'll post them as soon as I have them.

ok question although technically its not a power adding mod wont its bigger and better fuel maps allow us to tune for more boost than our stock ecu? allowing the ability for more ponies?

Absolutely. And when the time comes that I up my boost I will have ZERO problem with tuning for it having this ECU. But for now it was just a simple ECU swap with potential bursting at the seams.

Hey senate while I was digging around trying to find imobilizer information for the 2002 eclipse ecu I came across this and thought it might interest you.

56D0 -No rear O2 no Immobilizer
5650-no rear O2, No immobilizer, No knock
5658-no rear O2, No knock sensor
56D8-no rear O2
5698, no front or rear 02
5690, no front 02, rear 02, or immobilizer
56D2, No immobilizer

You are suppose to be able to completely disable the downstream o2 sensor the one that checks cat efficiency...

All of these are already defined in the Evo's ECU periphery bits if you use the newest version of EcuFlash and add the blobbits variable (See here: http://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/Periphery_Configuration).

None of them are required for this swap so I felt no need to include them and to confuse readers more than they probably already are, but you can see all the different bits on the Evo ECU that can be modified in this image:

any updates on this???

I've been running on a JDM Evo V ECU for more than 4 years on my 2001 4g93 mirage... daily driven, td05h big16G 15psi daily... almost 20psi on some track days... everything was fine until a month ago... I have the CEL only at idle... I've not changed any maf or injector parameter (My injectors are Evo V OEM, just like the MAF)... mi CEL code is for the MAF...

a month ago one piston melted and the other 3 started to melt... so my engine now it's waiting for better internals... the engine was stock... I have videos & photos running if someone want to see it working...

Good Luck on your tune up!!!

this is running on a empty air strip (really dirt)

this is on "turagua" (race circuit) I've bad spark plugs that day...

another one at "turagua" drag nights...

this was testing my new hks ssqv... (don't look my s****y narrowband AF it's bad)

random day...

here at turagua... Track day with "Club Mustang Venezuela" my dirlfriend was taking the video so I didn't push the car hard on curves...

another vid from the trackday
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuQulxI47nI

this about 2 years ago... testing at night overboosting problems and other things... that night throws psi peaks over 20 psi

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS15MHz4X3k

well, there's a lot videos to see... my car isn't the faster one but I've enjoyed A LOT... now I'm waiting for some wiseco pistons (or another brand) and a Pauter or Crower rods, a wideband, pyro, acl race bearings, arp head stud kit and hopefully a water/meth injection kit to protect and push my engine to the very limits on pump gas...

some pics

this is my engine damage...

the evo V ecu make my car last longer... my engine failure was because i've running with bad spark plugs, one or two start to fail and these cilinders wasn't burning any fuel and my ecu leaned the air/fuel ratio to compensate, the Fº raise inside the cilinder and the piston melted (that's the only logic I think, because my psi was on 15, the oil pressure was about 70psi and my rpm was under 5k...)

The difference between you running an Evo V ECU and this writeup on running an Evo VIII ECU is that you can tune completely with the newer Evo VIII ECU using EcuFlash. Support for the Evo V/VI was only just added at the beginning of this year. So what you did was blindly hooked up an ECU from an Evo V, it worked and have just been driving the car as-is for "more than 4 years". Not really a good tuning solution or even a sensible thing to do.

If you have a question on THIS swap I'd be happy to help out. Otherwise, I don't really appreciate the thread-jack with your You Tube videos showing your NARROWBAND gauge running super lean on 15psi.
