I know but besides the better air flow is there anything tuning wise that is better/easier to use with the turbo lancer?

no you can not use an x with a turbo lancer. totally different setup. Yes the stock maf cant go above i think 11lbs and the evo maf gives more resolution.

Nope. Its not going to give you power just by swapping it over. What it will do is allow to a more refined tuning environment with the increased resolution and allow you the better tune your car which will lead to more power.

Just as an FYI, I am running speed density, but if I put my stock maf back in the way not hooked up, I do see a slight drop in HP, like 5 or so but that's using V Dyno and may not be accurate. I see a 15hp drop if I put my "silencer" in my exhaust to quiet it up.

Confirmed... tossing a 399 Evo Maf & scaleings onto my NA Lancer with intake, header and exhaust was not plug and play. Ran into issues with 400 to stall idle and non-knock related hickups in the 4000 rpm range. Was not a suitable maf replacement for an NA application. May work with some custom scaleing but opted to try a 501 maf instead.

Car: 2003 OZ-Rally Lancer NA

I was working with an NA OZ-Rally stock motor with bolt ons and gave the 399 maf and scalings a try. I ran into some rough idle'ing issues and odd hickups and leaning. I then tested a 501 maf with no restricter plate and it had the same issues as the 399. Next i tryed the 601 maf with no plate and again the same issues. Mind you that with out the restrictor plate each of these mafs are the same diameter of flow. You put the restricter plates back in and the 605 and 501 mags act correctly. The evo maf is simply too large for my NA setup with out some bandaid maf scalings but Mace1890 is correct when he noted his comments. The sensors and capabilities are the same between the mafs, its that restrictor plate that makes the differences that we scale for.

To finish the test I used a 605 maf, with a 501 restrictor plate and 501 scalings and it ran identical to the 501 maf. Same went for the 399 maf with 605 plate and scalings.

So ideally, you can run a 605 Maf, no restrictor plate, 399 scalings and call it a day. *Some normal maf dialing in may be required pending your setup but you get the point.

EDIT: I didn't do any testing with boost so while under boost you may start see'ing a difference between the two options. I may at some time throw a 605 maf with no restricter on my evo and see if it does what it should. But it may be awhile before I can do that test.

help with adjusting MAF tables for 501 swap

If you're looking for more information on scaling, I found this thread...weird thing is I didn't see it in the forum search, but it showed up when I searched in Google.

ok i switched from the stock 605maf to 501 rescaled like senate said and car runs terrible. +20 stft at warm up idle and 12.5-14.5 closed loop idle. tried messing with scaling and no help just got worse. I tried doing half way between lancer and eclipse scaling and ran exactly the same.

this is all after flashing. the car runs just as bad if i just install 501 maf with stock scalings.

605 is the smallest, 501 is about 50% more flow, 482 and 399 are huge.

Dead Thread, I know but for anyone who might need it here are the maf scalings for the 605 with the air horn removed on a turbo lancer 16g. Just using some averages and percent corrections in the flow params got me close enough. this is on a road race system that i converted to all ecu. Idle is alright but might need a bit more work.

Can't find a Tuner

I'm looking at doing this with an intake and TB upgrade, but there doesn't seem to be a good shop nearby that can flash the Lancer's ECU. What would I need to do this myself, or at least take it to a respectable shop nearby? Also, for a ram air (not short ram) setup with a TB upgrade, which sensor would be most ideal? Any help appreciated.
