You drop the timing so you can get better boost? The more its dropped into negative the better the turbo spools up.

No the rom doesn't care about turbo.

However the rom IS setup for a turbo and an evo maf which was geared for turbo. This means to run NA you'll need to tweak the rom quite a bit to get AFR's and timing corrected.

Tephra V7 should work with N/A too, will it work on ES 2005? I saw on first post it wont work on 05-06.

Oh, I know why. I thought you were taking about turbo. Its because your fuel system isn't returnless (or vice versa I forget) simple fix though...

 

Answered my own questions with some trial and error... Deleted.

 

Running into issues if anyone wouldn't mind brain storming with me.

So i had a stock rom tune that was running the car fine. I built a tephra map doing all the table conversions and all that jazz but because of the Maf Hz conversions between the maps it didn't work too well when i flashed it on the car. So i flashed my tune back onto the car and continued to drive it around for another week or so with no issues.

I wanted to try tephra again but still not trying to deal with these Hz Maf conversions i decided to just swap an Evo maf on the car and save my self some trouble. But after flashing the car the tephra rom w/ evo Maf was idling between 400 and stall and saw non-knock hickups in the 4000rpm range. My next step was to use my stock rom and try the evo maf scalings there and see if tephra was causing the issue... same effect and did not change anything. I read up on lancer maf swaps and it was noted that the evo maf didnt perform well on NA cars so i opted to use a 501Maf instead. I built and flashed both the stock and tephra maps with 501 scalings and am still having idle issues but that 4000rpm hickup cleared up. My next step was to simply go back to my original maf and rule out everything, i played with the Hz converstions, made a tephra rom with lancer maf scalings and loaded up my original map before all this tephra stuff. I load them up and my issues went speratic. The tephra map w/ lancer maf & scalings will idle and seems to have an odd mis and the orginal tune NOW will no longer run the car. It dies, cuts off and is running so rough you cant even rev it up. I played with my Hz conversions to make sure i didnt mess anything up and everything seems good. I tryed to flash my orginal 100% factory map and no change.

So right now the tephra map is running the car, but its running like **** with two codes and I'm unable to convert back to a Lancer rom that will run the car correctly.

Its possible the *NEW plugs are fouled out and adding to the confusion but that wouldn't explain why the tephra will run the car and stock rom will not. I'm gonna play with a couple more things but some ideas or brainstorming might be nice.

First off which tephra rom you running? The one is use for mine is 94170715, I recommend against the 953xxxx for the lancer I was unable to resolve massive throttle hang issues with that rom. wish I could comment on the maf Hz issue but its been quite while since I have had to deal with those.

 

Using the Tephra 96530706 rom at the moment. I went with it because some one said to go with it but I've been lead down the wrong road before. I can give the 94170715 rom a try instead if you think i may have better luck with it.

 

Definately go with 94170715, I actually was referring to the 965xxxx you have now, dunno where I got 953xxxx lol. I tried that rom you have now and along with the mega throttle hang I had there were other issues too.

 

The car was in decent shape the other day and is simple falling apart today. I put 20+ labor hours into the car this week end trying to get a bunch of things done and the cars in worse shape then I started, lol.

But no, I cleared up some of the tuning issues by playing with the maf 's some more. Ill try the other rom and see if that can get me to a comfortible and solid state again. Here's hoping ands thanks.

Now if i can just catch a break on some of these other random issues i ran into over the weekend.
