removing cats? @ muffler shop...

just a question, since the rpw header removes the stock exhuast manifold which contains the first cat... will a muffler shop remove that and install a header? or does this qualify as cat removal. will they install a high flow cat?

ive serached but have found no threads on muffler shops installing headers...

if they are a shop that does inspections or pays close attention to the rules no they wont. But you can do the install yourself pretty easily. I did it in an hour or so. There are ALOT of threads on how to do it on here.

I would think the muffler shop should do it as long as you still have the other cat.

when i got my catback installed my local shop said "you want us to leave the second cat or chop it off?" and i said chop it off as long as i can pass smog. he said if i dont pass smog he will pay for it to be passed at one of his shops... i only have a first cat so i dunno if putting a header on my car would be exactly safe.... although im sure i would feel some power....

a shop will pretty much do anything you want them to. if you want to go fast they will find a way to make it go fast legal or not...
