Simply he runs 5W30 oil in all his race cars. Has always used Mobile 1. I convinced him to try Amsoil, Royal Purple, or Redline since Mobile one really isnt that good (your buying a name). Well he tried them all.
After reading his incrediably long email, here's what he came up with.
Mobile - base
Redline +1 Hp
Royal Purple +2 Hp
Amsoil +3 Hp
Castrol -1 Hp
Valvoline +2 Hp
Valvoline NonSynth - 3 Hp
He also explaind that he did 3 pulls on each oil and averaged the pulls together to help get a better reading.
He also let me know that he has a lot of people that come in and switch to the newer 5W20's and they have seen a 1-2 Hp improvement. So you could have free HP in a bottle next time you change your oil.

3hp gain on a supra is what gain on a lancer?...
if engine wear stays constant between both oils... Which it does... Then reg oil is simply better. It doesn't matter if synth doesn't breakdown as quickly or sludges later... You still have to change your filter at the same frequency.
