Oh sorry that I'am again late for another motor oil debate, but it looks like you engine blew because you had too much oil pressure and the fact you were driving your car hard caused it to blow, especially with synthiques which tend to stay within its viscosity longer than organic oils. Just imagine driving hard and the oil stays the same vicos as if the eengine was cold ...kaboom

I have no problem in synthetique motor oils performance and they have their uses in different climates and duty cycles, as I was proberly one of the first people in North America to try them back in the early eighties wheen I was an engineering student at a large oil refinery working with syntheque blends. With time and experience comes knowledge, I just now use regular 5w30 no brand oil in my ride, the cheapest price that I can find I will buy it !, it works fine provided you follow regular motor oil change schedules as recommended by the manufacturer ... motor oil is becoming like selling snake oil to the uninformed !

I don't think this has been addressed. But I have about 25,000 miles on my car and have been using Mobil 1 Synthetic for the past five oil changes. It's getting cold now and I don't wanna have to change my oil, is it ok for me to switch back to regular oil?

Fox

Edit: I forgot to add that I change the oil every 2,500-3,000 miles. So for about 12,500 miles.

if you are running 0w30 and you are worried that its too thin, then run a 5w40 or 10w40. its thicker. simple enough

So you're saying you just throw the cheapest oil you can find into your engine...? Even though most of the cheaper brands are cut with parrafin?

The EVO requires synth oil. The non turbo lancers can prolly do fine with regular oil..... Synth oil is fine for practically any engine. In a regular engine you can get by with longer periods between oil changes......

I'll keep that in mind for my Evo... now as for my Lancer I was wondering if it was cool to switch back to regular. Thanks for trying to help though bro...
