Im in NC up near raleigh and dream of doing something similar , I was going to start with the 4g64, get it running with no cel's ect. then swap in a dohc head from a hyundai (it is the same casting as the evo8 except you will be getting it cheaper because its off a no-name car) if you read on the galant forums this has been done ... only thing though make sure your looking at the right 2.4 4g64 because the 95-99 eclipse spyder 2.4 is different. you want the 2.4 4g64 out of the 01-03 galant or the 00-05 2.4 out of the eclipse. or the 2.4 out of the outlander but either way your really going to want to get everything together the wiring, the ecu, the engine, ect... if you have a source for the ecu and wiring you could get a motor from japan direct up here near raleigh they have pretty good prices... I may consider coming down and turning wrenches with you for a day for a fun learning expience... I have done a zc swap in a crx before and a few other motor/tranny swaps , i even converted my 97 gsx from an automatic to a manual(got it to run a 13.7 in the quarter was a sick car)... Give me a call sometime my name is gabriel c 919-247-3881 or h 919-341-8485
