4g94 mivec??
duh... u would be stupid to do a swap without sending it to a machine shop first. spend a few extra bills, and see what the swap can really do, and making it basically brand new..
im ready..
im ready..

Hey Luie,
We traded some PM's and I'm interested in doing this DOHC Mivec swap. It's going to take awhile for me to gather the cash but when I do I'll definitely do this after I go Turbo. If I'm the first to do the swap then you know I'll do my part over here to promote it.
And will our 4g94 Turbo kits bolt up with the DOHC or are we going to need to make the downpipe longer?

hrmmm... i was thinking about that also. from what i have read on the 4g9x heads. dohc and sohc heads all have the same flanges in the about the same locations, so i would think you wouldnt hhave to change anything with the downpipe, but im probably wrong.
I'm sure the Intake/Exhaust Manifolds are all interchangable, it's just that the DOHC 4g92 mivec head sits a little higher. So either the downpipe has to be made longer or something else. It doesn't make much of a difference because any muffler shop can help out with that.
So this basically seems like a very effective mod.
Can't wait!

Any updates on this? I think my next project will be a Mirage coupe and I had been wanting to use a 4G92 DOHC MIVEC head. It never occured to me that using a 2.0L Lancer bottom might cause clearance issues until now.
I was under the impression the 4G92 DOHC MIVEC was the best N/A head Mitsu made, but I see the Aussies in the thread have used 4G93E DOHC heads. I know wiki isn't the best source, but they report that engine to be less in power then the 4G92. Plus I thought all 4G93E's were GDI anyway so I didn't think it be possible to use them.
So my questions are:
Was the 4G93E head chosen just because its cheaper and easier to find?
.........fits easier to a 1.8L/2.0L bottom? ....clears the hood?
or just better because of aftermarket support?
I had wanted to just buy a whole front clip to a Cyborg or Asti so I could get the LSD/trans harness and ECU, and swap it all to a USDM Mirage, but if its cheaper and easier to go peice by piece and just get the head for now I could consider it. Especially if doing a Frankenstein Lancer 2.0+4G92 head yields a better setup like the Honda boyz do with their CRV bottoms and B16A heads.
